Group: Calif. transgender law repeal will qualify
Source: AP
SAN FRANCISCO (AP) Opponents of a new California law that gives transgender students certain rights said Sunday that they had collected enough signatures for an initiative that would repeal the law.
A coalition of conservative groups called Privacy for all Students submitted 620,000 signatures to get the initiative on the November 2014 ballot, said Frank Schubert, the political strategist handling the signature gathering effort.
To qualify, at least 505,000 valid signatures must be submitted. To verify the signatures, each of California's 58 counties will first check that the overall count is correct, then conduct a random sampling to make sure they are legitimate. After that, it is likely the state would order a full review.
If, after all of the reviews, the group has the requisite number of valid signatures, the initiative would qualify for the ballot.

"Privacy for All Students"? Can anyone say Newspeak? Just like when MRAs say "True Equality" or "equalism not feminism".

(2,397 posts)My fucking tea bag landlord was bragging to a friend on the phone about this. She was at a church collecting signatures for this. Is that illegal? I can give the name of church if appropriate. A protest and bad PR couldn't hurt either.
This effort is primarily from the racist tea party bastards.
I say challenge as many of these names as possible. Then I am willing to give this tea bag *$! phone number so you can call to let her know she lost. Additionally, to let her know that hate, prejudice, and ignorance are dead.
The concern is about the kids sharing each others bathrooms. Tea baggers have a problem with this.
I am so fucking frustrated that I can't ask her how kids sharing the others bathroom affect you? If I did, I would be homeless. Trying to not let that happen. And I can't ask her why she doesn't like Obama. I want to call her out on her prejudice. But can't.
Oh, and one thing on Jelly Belly. The holidays are coming. Their business needs a big hit from any holiday sales. Share this with as many people. You just gotta hit em where it hurts: their monthly spreadsheet.

(32,078 posts)Blue counties voted for Jerry Brown in 2010, red counties for Meg Whitman.
Basically I think every county outside LA/OC, the San Francisco Bay Area, Sacramento, and San Diego will vote Yes. But guess where most Californians live?
Oddly a lot of the counties that voted for Brown in 2010 voted Yes on Prop. 8 two years earlier!
And most CA counties voted for Obama back then too.

(6,036 posts)Don't underestimate how this might turn out on a ballot. The images of Perv's preying upon little girls will be used to whip up hysteria. In all of that the concept of a Safe Place to Pee will be lost.
