Before some of our more bloodthirsty members get all frothy about this I hope they read that they beat an ACCUSED man with a BASEBALL bat.

Just one more paver on america's road to hell.

As much as people like to rail against cops as being authoritarian thugs whose sole purpose is to protect the powerful, in reality they make concepts such as "innocent before proven guilty" possible.

I guess compared to the age of the universe, a few hundred thousand years would count as lately.

However, vigilantism leads to anarchy. A simple matter of mistaken identity and you or I could be on the receiving end of an unjustified revenge attack.

What saddens me most about this story is the lack of police action, whether due to indifference or lack of resources.

And state-sponsored anarchy has brought us to this point. "It's okay if you are a Republican", "the Powers That Be", "the 1% Elite"....none of that is democracy.

Now we need another, separate vigilante group to go after the first vigilante group. Then, a third group to go after the second, and so on. It's like Inception... except with baseball bats.

and this is what you get. How awful for the citizens of Detroit that it's just imploding, and by design. This is a horrible story all around. That poor girl!

All the trash and blight and abandoned buildings and crime are what Detroit needs to protect its poorest citizens?

SMH! I'm sure there is PLENTY of room for a few dope smoking Starbucks drinking hipsters in a city whose population dropped from nearly 2 million to under 700,000. Think about it - the vacant area in Detroit is larger than the entire city of San Francisco.

Detroit needs taxpayers and businesses and jobs, not people opposing any positive upgrades to the city.

Where parents of a runaway girl (who became a prostitute) were trying to get her away from her pimp. They tried to get the police involved, but were essentially told to go pound sand.
They ended up shooting and killing the pimp. They have since been arrested and put on trial for murder.
That's why the police need to take reports seriously and go after criminals. People unhappy with the response will take the law into their own hands.
I'm not crying over the death of a gang-affiliated pimp that goes after under age girls (she was 17). I just feel that 90% of the blame needs to be on the shoulders of law enforcement.
