Residents Want Congress To Remove West Lake Landfill
Source: KTVI
BRIDGETON, MO (KTVI) The Bridgeton landfill is causing increased concern for people in the area.
Workers are trying to control a subsurface fire burning within feet of buried radioactive waste.
Those affected say congressional action is necessary to avoid disaster. Homeowners, renters and people who work nearby say they have to make sure elected officials understand the gravity of their concern.
The press conference was held in Spanish Village Park where children dont play much anymore. Between the eye and throat irritation associated with the smell coming from the burning and the potential for airborne contaminants from the radioactive waste, this group is demanding that congress treat this as an emergency situation.
