Envelope tests positive for ricin at Washington mail facility
Source: CNN
Washington (CNN) -- An envelope that tested positive for the deadly poison ricin was intercepted Tuesday afternoon at the U.S. Capitol's off-site mail facility in Washington, congressional and law enforcement sources tell CNN.
After the envelope tested positive in a first routine test, it was retested two more times, each time coming up positive, the law enforcement source said. The package was then sent to a Maryland lab for further testing.
The envelope was addressed to a U.S. senator, though the sources would not say which one.

Letter sent to Sen. Roger Wicker tests positive for ricin
An envelope sent to an office of Sen. Roger Wicker (R-Miss.) included a substance that has tested positive for Ricin, two sources say.
It was not immediately clear when the envelope was received or whether it was sent to his Washington, D.C., office or a field office.

(2,529 posts)on the gun control bill in the Senate. He's been the target of some heavy vitriol and even a couple of death threats. He's walked lockstep on a lot of arch conservative measures, but that didn't matter to the moonbat mouth-frothing gun nuts.

(251 posts)We don't know for sure when the letter was intercepted.
Sender would have to have had some ricin "just sittin' around", to get it in the mail that fast.
I think way to many people are jumping to conclusions in the last 24 hours.
Think I'll wait a few days...so I don't embarrass myself.

(2,529 posts)I'm not usually one for conspiracy theories, but I never got over the persistent feeling that Bruce Ivins was just a convenient scapegoat for the FBI in the Anthrax case. After almost 8 years, they needed a warm body and they admitted that they had no real "direct evidence", they just closed the case after his suicide. Lots of conjecture when there's no information available and like you said, jumping to conclusions can embarrass one. Doesn't mean I won't be jumping to them.

(1,259 posts)he was fishy as hell, but he just did not have the ability to make high grade anthrax. Lots of good sources think he was a patsy.

(19,458 posts)they seem to be waging some sort of war on the Govt right now, with the shootings of prosecutors, and prison officials. I'm sure the officials are looking closely at them right now. Poison on envelopes, crude bombs, usually homegrown perps.
