Obama Says Immediate Action Needed On Fiscal Cliff

Source: Associated Press

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama says "the hour for immediate action is here" on a deal to avert the fiscal cliff.

The president says he remains "optimistic" that an agreement can be reached in Congress before a looming year-end deadline to avoid tax increases and spending cuts.

If Congress can't reach a deal, the president says Congress should allow a vote on a basic package that would preserve tax cuts for middle-class Americans while extending unemployment benefits for the long-term jobless and working toward a foundation for a broader deal.

The president says an hourlong meeting Friday with congressional leaders was "good and constructive."

As of this moment, that is how much time is left in 2012.

I think the President is just trying to maintain an optimistic exterior towards the public. He knows nothing is going to happen.

76 Hours until 2013, and that's if they work until Midnight on Monday, and we all know that's not going to happen.

What is going to happen is that the Senate is going to hopefully pass a 250K middle class cut, along with unemployment extension, and the House is going to immediately reject it.

Then the President will get up and blame the House, and probably Boehner directly, for not helping out the middle class as the clock gets ready to strike 12 on Monday night.

There will probably be something by the State Of The Union, but if anybody truly believes we'll see something in the next 70 or so hours, I've got a bridge for you.

He desperately wants to cut social security thinking he will go dwn in history. He will go down in history for that but nt the way he hopes. The big money CEs and corporate sponsors are pushing cutting SoCal security because if they don't get it cut nw wih Obama and a republican house and lame senate, they will have to ay higher taxes after.

They've decided to abandon the government for their vacations while the Senate and President stay in Washington.
