New York judge throws out Rudy Giuliani's bankruptcy case
Source: Washington Post
A federal judge in New York on Friday threw out Rudy Giulianis bankruptcy case, paving the way for a litany of creditors, including two former Georgia election workers who won a $148 million defamation claim against him, to pursue and potentially seize his assets.
The decision by U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Sean Lane in the Southern District of New York comes nearly seven months after Giuliani sought bankruptcy protection after he was ordered to immediately pay millions in damages to Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss, two Georgia women he falsely accused of helping to steal the 2020 presidential election.
Lanes written ruling came amid claims by Giulianis creditors that the former New York mayor and personal lawyer to former president Donald Trump had used the proceedings to hide details about his assets and avoid paying the former election workers.
Fridays order would allow Freeman and Moss and other creditors to pursue legal remedies to collect money owed to them by Giuliani. It also allows other pending lawsuits against the former mayor that had been frozen by the bankruptcy proceeding to resume, including defamation suits by the voting machine companies Dominion Voting Systems and Smartmatic and a sexual harassment and wage theft claim by former Giuliani associate Nicole Dunphy.

(7,253 posts)Does this mean they'll have to hire lawyers to make Rudy pay what he already owes them? If so, I hope the court will force that slimeball to reimburse them - with interest.

(4,980 posts)gamed the system and did things like taking loans completely encumbering any value to the assets and having the proceeds to those loans in offshore accounts. I'm wondering if criminal proceedings could take place for his conduct in the bankruptcy proceedings. False documents, swearing to false statements etc. sort of thing.

(4,980 posts)immediately order him to disclose all accounts. Give him a short leash of 10 days and when he violates the 10 days immediately entertain a motion for contempt. Also put the tight schedule on the hearing date as 5 days from the date of motion. Then rule immediately from the bench in the motion hearing and put him in custody.
Enough of this months and years of delay and foot dragging by these people. On a related note about a foot dragging member of the cabal, could we see about a Congressional medal or compensation of some kind for the man who had to do the cavity/strip search of Bannon at intake?

(11,723 posts)He was using bankruptcy laws to massively benefit himself, not employees of a company he was trying to save. I wonder where he learned that?
On a less happy note - I wonder what creditors will get? 3 cents on the dollar? Probably way less than that. In the case of the 2 Georgia election workers, that ratio would make their settlement worth $4.4M. That's nudging the upper estimate of his net worth, all by itself.
