At least 11 people have been shot in Chicago since 5:45 p.m. Monday, including four men and a woman hurt in a single shooting in the South Shore neighborhood, authorities said.

Chicago has been averaged somewhere close to 6 shootings a day this year: http://articles.chicagotribune.com/2012-05-28/news/ct-met-violent-weekend-20120529_1_weekend-shootings-holiday-weekend-bronzeville-neighborhood ; while 11 is above that, it seems to be casual variation rather than a news event in itself (and note that none of the victims died). So I don't think this is news of national interest, and thus doesn't fit the LBN Statement of Purpose.
