Former President Donald Trump received less than 1% of the votes at the Libertarian Party Convention over the weekend.
In Sunday's first round of presidential nomination voting, Trump reportedly received just six write-in votes, which amounted to 0.65% of the total delegates.
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. was also eliminated in the first round of voting, receiving only 19 votes.................

(10,367 posts)....that trump only lost so badly because (they claim) he didn't fill out the nomination paperwork.
And he probably didn't, knowing that if he made a bad showing he could play this card (as he is) and if he made a good showing he could just slip in the paperwork afterward.

(5,961 posts)This should be the biggest takeaway. This was not a crowd of his cult members. Anyone who isn't a cult member despises him. Hence the booing and heckling.
This is great news.
And it makes me disbelieve any poll that shows him in the lead. Look at the polling methodology. The devil is in the details. Many of the polls that show him in the lead aren't even sampling likely voters, or they are weighting the results to lessen their opinion or to give more importance to all people versus people who vote regularly. In addition, there is a wide discrepancy on reliability regarding issues polls versus candidate polls. Issues polls (like the availability of abortion, for example) hew much more closely to the way people actually vote. Candidate polls tend to vary a lot more, depending on how the pollsters weight the results. If they over-emphasize "all potential voters" over "consistent voters," they end up more inaccurate. And finally, look how Democrats have "overperformed" since 2018. Polls underestimated their support. Most of them had races much tighter or republicans winning and in reality, Dems kicked ass and took names. So on-the-ground reality doesn't match the polls.
And as we see here, a crowd of people who aren't self-selected cult members hates the orange shitgibbon.

if there are other unedited videos posted on youtube or elsewhere trustworthy I'd be very interested in investing time reviewing that. but i'm reluctant to click on Twitter and still never long enough to get a full picture.

(5,961 posts)I read straight news, some social media, and blogs by very smart people; people who understand how to read polls and can criticize them with understanding and knowledge (versus opinion), and a lot of legal people.
The people who seem to be on target are saying look at what you see on the ground. The media won't tell us the unvarnished truth. Most of the youtubes I see being passed around in my liberal circle are by people who are clearly biased and I don't trust them. The advice I keep seeing that makes the most sense is to look at what is actually happening. Polls and the media have consistently been predicting tighter races and Democrats losing to Republicans, and that isn't reality for the last few election cycles. So they keep saying Democrats "overperformed," when, to my eye, they won where they were it looked like they were going to win. Similarly, the whackaloon Q-faction keeps losing because in most cases, the electorate just doesn't want them serving.
That said, if the Farting Felony Factory can cheat in the key states to win their electoral votes, we're all fucked.
We need to abolish the electoral college. Even so, several states have passed laws so whoever wins the popular vote in that state wins the electoral votes as well, so that's at least some improvement.

(24,400 posts)That six votes are the most votes ever.
They came from the six best people in attendance.
When you look at the crowd, and it was huge, there were clearly six people who stood out among the throngs.
It was an amazing day and an amazing success.
