Trumpworld is once again splintering from reality. This time, the diversion relates to countingspecifically, how many people attended Donald Trumps rally in the Bronx on Thursday.
Trump, who has long obsessed over the size of crowds at his events, shared an article from Right Side Broadcasting Network to his Truth Social account that quoted the Trump campaign as saying 25,000 people attended the electrifying event. The New York Times reported that Trumps team had acquired a permit for an event for 3,500 people.
The sheer numbers show the great enthusiasm that President Trump has gained among voters in even the bluest areas of the United States, the Right-Side Broadcasting Network article crowed. That number later appeared on Fox News, was shared across various MAGA social media accounts, and also popped up on the official X account of the Republican Party.
But aerial footage of the event, and The Daily Beasts reporter on the ground, told a different story. ABC7s coverage of the event showed a much smaller crowd located in an amphitheater at Crotona Park. While law enforcement told the New York Post that the crowd was between 8,000 and 10,000 people, The Daily Beast had a reporter in attendance, who estimated about 1,000 people were there.

(48,497 posts)So obviously we have to assume whatever he says isn't true.
Funny though, you'd think he'd care more about it actually BEING true, but apparently he is more concerned with the appearance of things, not the reality. Another indication of what a truly superficial person he is.

(7,809 posts)Their sickness- and they are sick- feeds off his sickness. Appeals to reason have been futile. The kneejerk explanation is that they everybody, including us, lives in siloed information systems. That's part of the media's comfortable both-sides narrative that enables them to continue marketing prescription drugs to all consumers. The lack of shared reality is a factor in our politics but falls far short of giving a useful description of our current reality. The stark moral difference between left and right should be equally obvious and subject to discussion but that discussion is avoided or hijacked. Liberals are dismissed as preachy or well-meaning but naive. The tidal wave of spite and imaginary victimhood of the right is not mentioned in polite company.
I was immediately put off by the Walken video, but thinking about it, realize that Trump's behavior is so relentlessly self-serving and transactional that nobody would be surprised if he acted the same way in the same situation. His supporters would probably rally around an alternate explanation for his behavior...

They routinely get about 20,000 per day over the 3 days that the event occurs at the Mann Music Center here (which has an indoor part and then the outdoor seating and "lawn seats" ).
THAT is what at least ten thousand looks like.
