Serbia Approves Contract With Jared Kushner for Hotel Complex

The Serbian government has approved a contract with Jared Kushner on plans to build a luxury hotel on the site of the former defense ministry in Belgrade, putting him directly into business with a European state as his father-in-law, Donald J. Trump, vies to return to the White House. Mr. Kushner is pursuing the $500 million hotel project in partnership with Richard Grenell.
A former Trump administration aide, Mr. Grenell first proposed that U.S. investors attempt to redevelop the long-vacant, bombed-out site of the former Yugoslav Ministry of Defense while Mr. Grenell was still a diplomat, serving as a special envoy to the Balkans. The deal, which provoked protests in Belgrade on Thursday, is with an affiliate of Mr. Kushners Affinity Partners, the three-year-old, $3 billion investment fund backed by the sovereign wealth fund of Saudi Arabia.
The government of Serbia has chosen a reputable American company as a partner in this venture, which will invest in the revitalization of the former Federal Secretariat for National Defense complex, a Serbian government official said in a statement released on Wednesday. The complex was bombed in 1999 by NATO forces with the backing of the United States during the war Serbia was then waging with Kosovo. It is now considered a prime undeveloped real-estate site in the middle of a much-changed city, and Mr. Trump himself considered building a hotel on it in 2013.
For Mr. Kushner, who is also planning two luxury hotel projects in neighboring Albania, these deals in the Balkans are among the largest he has made since starting his investment firm. The economic progress in Serbia over the past decade has been impressive, Mr. Kushner said in a statement confirming the approval of the deal. This development will further elevate Belgrade into the premier international destination it is becoming.

(23,117 posts)I hope he can't find workers and those he finds quit, repeatedly. I hope someone sabotages the entire project and he never sees a dime in profit.
I hope the entire operation is quickly overrun by an enormous infestation of bedbugs that they can never exterminate.
Other than that, I wish him good luck.

And what's his father in law got to do with his son in law"s business?
I don't believe that the plan is to put giant T-R-U-M-P letters on any Jared and Ivanka enterprises. Anymore than they'll add B-O-N-E-S-A-W to the marquee.
The smartest thing that they may be doing right now is dissing him. Which is what's happening now in case no one else knows.
They are billionaires now in their own right. They don't need no has been, loser, criminal, failed pseudo politician.
And to be clear I personally, won't be opening up any hotels as implied in this quoted statement here...
And it's not necessary to try to question someone's engagement in an issue. Especially any issue that isn't discussed in any post. Of course, unless one has been sitting on their shoulder every day and night as they're reading various things and have intimate knowledge of that person's thoughts.

Question marks ask questions. Thats it, right? The answers right there in their name. But questions are only one of a question marks jobs and if youve ever thrown a ? without words into a text message (or even a ?!), you know its true. Question marks can express everything from confusion to panic.
What Is a Question Mark?
A question mark, sometimes known as an interrogative mark, is a squiggly line over a period that makes a sentence into a question. They reflect the higher inflection of a spoken question (when your voice goes up as you ask something).
You can create the question mark on most keyboards by holding down Shift and pressing the key with the question mark. If youre texting, its on the number keyboard menu.
Examples of Question Marks in a Sentence
Like periods and exclamation points, question marks are end (or terminal) punctuation marks. You dont need to put a period after a question mark it ends the sentence all by itself.
