Speaker Johnson attends Trump's hush-money trial

Former President Donald Trump's entourage continues to grow with more high-profile politicians attending his New York hush money criminal trial on Tuesday -- including House Speaker Mike Johnson.
Johnson, the highest-ranking Republican official in Congress, was in criminal court in New York with former President Trump on Tuesday morning. Johnson commuted with Trump in his motorcade from Trump Tower.
His appearance comes less than a week after Trump helped save Johnson's speakership after Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, a staunch Trump ally, attempted to oust him. Trump spoke privately to Greene and urged her to drop her push to oust Johnson -- though Greene went on to trigger a vote to oust him, which Democrats and Republicans overwhelmingly rejected.
In addition to Johnson, North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum, Vivek Ramaswamy, and Florida congressmen Byron Donalds and Cory Mills were also expected with Trump to court Tuesday, according to sources familiar with the matter. Eric Trump, one of Trump's sons, has been attending court to support his father. On Tuesday, his wife and RNC Co-Chair Lara Trump will join him for the proceedings.

(1,916 posts)He is one, and that's the fault and the problem of Christianity. The religion needs to do better at deciding what it's about, and tighten up the membership requirements while they're at it. Left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing and all that.
Maybe get some new management, because the one in place now is entirely incompetent.

(183,315 posts)In 1997, Donalds was charged with marijuana possession, but the charges were dropped as part of a pre-trial diversion program, and he was fined $150 (equivalent to $280 in 2023).[19][20] In 2000, he pleaded no contest to a felony theft charge for allegedly attempting to defraud a bank (by depositing a bad check), but his record was later sealed and expunged.[19][20][21][22] According to an attorney consulted by the fact-checking site PolitiFact, "Donalds would not have been able to get his record expunged if the state considered him a convicted felon."[23]

(1,916 posts)Good luck getting that into a bill that will clear the Senate, and never mind Biden's desk.
This idiot needs to sit down, shut up and stop doing the legislative equivalent of pissing himself in public.

Mike Johnson: The crime that they are accusing President Trump of is falsification of business records. But I think everybody knows hes not the bookkeeper for his company
President Trump is innocent of these charges

(1,916 posts)CPAs don't make the decisions of who gets paid what. They're essentially scribes who record income and outgo, and make sure those entries are accurate. Sure, they can advise on what happens to money when used for assorted purposes, but all they do is advise. They still are not the ones who decide what gets paid to whom.
That's the job of--oh yeah--the guy who owns or leads the company. And that would be TSF in this case.
I'm an idiot about finance, and even I know that much.
