Police in New York took possession of a gun belonging to writer E. Jean Carroll in February after she said during testimony in her defamation lawsuit against former President Donald Trump that she had an unlicensed firearm at home, according to a police report obtained by NBC News.
The chief of police in Warwick, New York, visited Carroll at her home on Feb. 15 to discuss some open issues, the report states, including Carrolls disclosure of the handgun while she was on the witness stand Jan. 17.
During the second day of the civil trial, Carroll had told the federal court in lower Manhattan that she kept a high standard revolver, nine chambers at home with ammunition. By my bed, she said.
I still do not have a license, Carroll added.

With trump and the magats who can blame her.
But with the trial beginning monday why did NBC deem it appropriate to publish this story now?

I don't, but the circus just became 3 ring.

(15,467 posts)You have to go through red tape to get a gun, and if they find out you have an unlicensed gun, they take it. You have to help yourself get a gun here.

(4,993 posts)can be an incredible PITA depending upon which county you are in. The closer you are to NYC, the harder it can get.
It took about 3 months to get into the required training class and then I waited almost 18 months before my application came up for processing (but, by that time I had already relocated to another state) and was told that my permit had been selected to appear before a county judge to explain "why" I needed a gun.

(46,158 posts)If E Jean Carroll had registered the gun, it would have hit the papers. And may have attracted lone wolves, seeking vengeance for their President.
As she didn't register the gun, she broke the law and lost the weapon for her protection, again, attracting lone wolves.

(32,713 posts)For HOME Defence a 12 gauge double barrel shot gun is the best,
No permit and much safer for you and innocent neighbors. #5 shot. You cant miss your target, just point and shoot. The pellets dont travel far or go through walls. The last thing would want is to harm anyone not targeted. Id be terrified looking down those large barrels as would the bad guy. It is strictly a defensive weapon. An AK is an offensive weapon and a danger to anyone standing or sitting in a chair a block away.
Google cheap home security lots of ways to make sure a bad guy would NEVER pick your home. Fake or real security cameras, motion lights that come on when someone approaches and a sign on your door that says beware of dog are just a few of many ways to protect your home and loved ones. If you do that google you will be amazed and have a laugh.
Even war vets come down with PTSD after taking anothers life in self defense.
She could have legally purchased a shotgun and kept it in the house.

(22,128 posts)Although I agree with what you said about them, and I personally have no problem with them. We have a shotgun and a .38 here (not licensed, not required in our state), mostly for farm purposes. But we also have 2 very large dogs, and a trio of noisy geese. Funny, but most people are more afraid of the geese.

(1,221 posts)With a shotgun than a handgun. I lived with my grandparents in a rural area for a while, and was more familiar with the shotgun. When I lived in a rural area by myself, I had a shotgun, mostly to scare off wild animals who got too curious about my garden or rubbish bin.
I've shot both handguns and shotguns, but I find the shotgun both more comfortable and more reliable. If I'm in a must-defend-myself situation, I'd be afraid of my hands shaking with fright holding a handgun. Even in a two-handed grip, if both hands are trembling, I'd be in trouble with trying to get a good aim. With a shotgun, it's much easier to keep a steady aim with that shoulder bracing.
There's also nothing more terrifying for a prowler or burglar to hear than a pump action engaged.

(528 posts)why aren't they defending the "Liberal" to hold on to her gun? Is it maybe because she's purchased it to protect herself from their favorite grifter(?) who know but maybe the nra if full of it! Of course she should have a registered gun but why couldn't she get one prior? Probably because it would have been on every paper in New York if she did. I'm only speculating but did they actually run the serial number to see where the gun came from, maybe someone should be worried.
