First on CNN: Federal prosecutors file new criminal case against Hunter Biden

Source: CNN

(CNN) — Federal prosecutors have filed a new criminal case against Hunter Biden, people briefed on the matter said.

The exact nature of the charges couldn’t immediately be learned because court documents have not been made public.

Special counsel David Weiss, in recent weeks, has been using a federal grand jury in Los Angeles to gather testimony and evidence on possible criminal tax charges against President Joe Biden’s son.

Hunter Biden already faces criminal charges in Delaware related to a gun purchase.

How many regular citizens are treated like this if their name isn't Biden? When the wealthy are caught cheating on their taxes, they make a deal with the IRS and go on about their business.

My guess is Hunter ignored A LOT OF COMMUNICATIONS TO HIM. If you get a letter, respond. Start working with them. In our case they suddenly wanted $7200. Worked with them a month or so over the phone. Explained how I had sent them $4400 that tax year and they sent it back saying I didn't owe? Finally settled for $5200. It wasn't that hard as long as we paid. Haha

Usually at that point, there aren't any follow up prosecutions. This time there is.

But we're talking about a man who is probably the 1st person ever prosecuted solely for falsely checking "no" on the Federal Firearms form 4773 question F, a box that millions of others have falsely checked off without a 2nd thought and nary a consequence.

The cruelty is the point.

Lying on the form is a felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison. For being a user of unlawful drugs in possession of a firearm, the punishment is up to five years. The odds of being charged for lying on the form are virtually nonexistent. In the 2019 fiscal year, when Hunter Biden purchased his gun, federal prosecutors received 478 referrals for lying on Form 4473 — and filed just 298 cases. The numbers were roughly similar for fiscal 2020. At issue is when Biden answered “no” on the question that asks about unlawful drug use and addiction when purchasing a gun. Biden had been discharged five years earlier from the Navy Reserve for drug use and based on his 2021 memoir, he was actively using crack cocaine in the year he bought the gun.

"Are you an unlawful user of, or addicted to, marijuana or any depressant, stimulant, narcotic drug, or any other controlled substance?"

That's a very different question in terms of constitutionality and provability from other questions which deal with things like felony convictions. So that form is a hodge podge of appropriate but also dubious questions.

lying on Question F is usually prosecuted as an add-on charge, and even then, quite rarely. I have never seen any reports, and cannot find anything online, referencing a prosecution solely for a false response to it. only in conjunction with another gun crime or drug crime.

he's been singled out, and it's a question that is falsely answered hundreds of times EVERY DAY in gun-crazy America.

There’s a Republican who is very close to TFG named Roger Stone. He did worse than Hunter. Stone evaded paying $2 million in taxes. Guess what happened? He was allowed to settle and wasn’t criminally charged. Stone leads an extravagant lifestyle almost bankrupting himself. But, Stone practically skates free and goes on grifting.

Rudy owes $550k in unpaid taxes. He wasn’t dragged into court, criminally charged and threatened with jail time. The IRS placed a lien on his home. Rudy lost a great deal of his estimated $100 million fortune due to extravagant spending, legal bills, and 2 divorces. Rudy practically skates free, and goes on begging for money.

Weiss was appointed by TFG. And this case has TFG’s allies all over it: Bill Barr, Rosen, and Donoghue.

The only thing Hunter is guilty of is being a Democrat, and the son of our President.
