Tom Emmer drops out hours after becoming the latest Republican pick for speaker

Source: Washington Post

Rep. Tom Emmer (R-Minn.), the House majority whip, and the third Republican speaker pick since the ouster of Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.), had been elected as the GOP nominee on an internal ballot earlier Tuesday. However, it became clear that he could not attract a majority vote on the full House floor because of Republican holdouts in the narrowly divided chamber. Former president Donald Trump took direct aim at Emmer as he was trying to convert holdouts. In a social media post, Trump called Emmer a RINO — Republican in name only — and “totally out-of-touch with Republican Voters.”

20 days, 23 hours. At 1:35pm - assuming Eastern time. And we’re well beyond that by now, in any U.S. time zone.

So make it 21 days now. Three whole weeks. And it’s only Tuesday.

of electing a Speaker. This way they get everything they want (No aid for Ukraine or Israel, government shut down, economy destroyed, etc.). Then they are all set for the only way to save the country is a full Trump dictatorship.

And the beauty of it for them is all they have to do is nothing at all. No action at all is they only action they are qualified for or capable of.

No speaker no congress aligns with tuberville, vance et al. blocking appointments etc.

The only thing that might cause them to change course is if they think continuing to not perform will cost them the House. And that's only if they think the votes will count.

What a disgusting situation. The Confederacy has found a way to stymie the North.

1) Too many of them care about the Israel/Gaza situation. They aren't as emotional over Ukraine.
2) The longer they lapse, the worse it looks for the party. Even with Trump's leash, there are, I think, enough Repughs who will either sit out the next election or vote for Biden because they blame Trump for the disorder.

got on "truth" social and proclaimed Emmer a "RINO" and not fit to be his official ass-kisser, Emmer was cooked.
Enough GQP representatives are still in Trump's baggy pocket to kill any designs members have of wanting to be Speaker, without pledging their undying allegiance to Hair Furor first.
Most republiCAN'T representatives are still afraid of Trump's flying monkeys, although a few are starting to break away.
