Steve Scalise drops out of House speaker race

Source: Axios

House Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-La.) announced Thursday he's abandoning his campaign for House speaker after a persistent group of GOP holdouts refused to budge.

Why it matters: It leaves Republicans without a GOP nominee for the job nine days after former Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) was ousted – to the growing frustration of GOP lawmakers.

"I was very clear we have to have everybody put their agendas on the side and focus on what this country needs this country is counting on us," Scalise told reporters on Thursday.

"But there's some folks that really need to look in the mirror over the next couple of days and decide are we going to get it back on track, or they're going to try to pursue their own agenda," he said.

Election denier, idiot and ass Steve Scalise is a self-described "David Duke without the baggage."

Friends in Louisiana tell me he's a racist pile of shit. Of course, he is. We don't need another Pedophile wrestling coach leading the House in GYM Jordan. The GQP did that already with that little boy rapist Dennis Hastart.

Let’s hope his candidacy craters too… if there are any sane moderates left in their cult.

Hard right Magats will only be satisfied with a Speaker who absolutely refuses to negotiate with Biden or any other Dem. I’m not optimistic that House Republicans can coalesce around a new Speaker before the next election.

Why doesn't the Democrats propose someone for the speaker?

If all of the dems choose one person, it only takes a few Republicans to make him the speaker.

governing. They much prefer having a scapegoat whom they can attack and blame and sic their voters on.

Right now, that scapegoat is all Democratic Congress people, but they like it best when they have one Democratic target to focus their hate on.

I'm not sure if you can still buy it, though.

Most of the items by this artist are limited release, so it may have sold out (I first saw this a couple of years ago).

I did a quick search on the site, all I could find in stock was an enamel pin (below), and a different style Dumpster Fire Night Light.

Also, it's a British company, so I don't know about shipping, etc. You can find their website here.
