John Eastman faces disbarment proceedings in California over effort to reverse 2020 election

Source: NBC News

John Eastman, the Trump-allied lawyer who created a memo arguing that then-Vice President Mike Pence could overturn Joe Biden’s 2020 election win, is set to face disciplinary hearings starting Tuesday in Los Angeles.

The counsel for the State Bar of California is asking a court to revoke Eastman’s license to practice law in the state. Eastman faces 11 disciplinary charges for allegations that he engaged in a plot to push a far-fetched legal strategy for Pence to overturn Biden’s electoral victory during the certification of Electoral College votes by a joint session of Congress on Jan. 6, 2021. Prosecutors alleged that Eastman made false and misleading statements with his baseless claims of widespread election fraud, including his remarks at the “Stop the Steal” rally on the Ellipse shortly before the Capitol attack.

The disciplinary hearings before the State Bar Court seeking Eastman’s disbarment is expected to last at least eight days. The court will determine whether Eastman’s conduct qualifies for recommendation of a suspension or revocation of his law license. The fate of Eastman’s law license then falls into the hands of the California Supreme Court.

The State Bar announced an ethics investigation into Eastman’s conduct in March last year. Eastman faces multiple charges that he allegedly violated the state’s business and professions code by making false and misleading statements that constitute acts of “moral turpitude, dishonesty, and corruption.” Eastman therefore “violated this duty in furtherance of an attempt to usurp the will of the American people and overturn election results for the highest office in the land — an egregious and unprecedented attack on our democracy — for which he must be held accountable,” the State Bar's chief trial counsel, George Cardona, said in a release in January.

wanna-be-"historian" Newt Gingrich, having some kind of special knowledge and insight on ways to circumvent democracy.

Newt Gingrich testified before January 6 grand jury

By Sara Murray, CNN
Updated 7:10 PM EDT, Thu June 8, 2023

Former Republican House Speaker Newt Gingrich testified Thursday before a federal grand jury investigating January 6, 2021, according to a person familiar with the matter.

Gingrich allegedly communicated with senior advisers to former President Donald Trump about television advertisements that relied on false claims of election fraud, according to documents obtained by the House select committee that investigated January 6. The panel also claimed Gingrich played a role in the effort to submit fake slates of electors in battleground states that Trump lost, according to committee documents.

An attorney for Gingrich did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

As the special counsel’s investigation into Trump’s retention of classified documents shows signs of wrapping up, the probe into the attack on the US Capitol and efforts to subvert the peaceful transfer of power following the 2020 election has carried on.

because they have all kinds of evidence of his myriad of phone calls to the rest of the criminal cabal. That's why he had been subpoenaed originally in GA, had claimed his testimony would be the same as that for the House J6 Committee, and was granted a stay (before the timeframe ran out for it).

It's just that the J6 part of the investigation is so broad and sweeping with dozens and dozens of former staff, lawyers, current and former elected officials, and other politicos, that sifting through that to find who did what where and when, would be a huge challenge. Plus some of the casat of characters have not been prominently followed as much as others.

Please have Eastman explain his theory of replacing the real electoral voters with phony ones as
the Vice President refuses to do his Constitutionally directed job.
