Judicial activist directed fees to Clarence Thomas's wife, urged 'no mention of Ginni'

Source: Washington Post

Conservative judicial activist Leonard Leo arranged for the wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas to be paid tens of thousands of dollars for consulting work just over a decade ago, specifying that her name be left off billing paperwork, according to documents reviewed by The Washington Post.

In January 2012, Leo instructed the GOP pollster Kellyanne Conway to bill a nonprofit group called the Judicial Education Project and use that money to pay Virginia "Ginni" Thomas, the documents show. The same year, the Judicial Education Project filed a brief to the Supreme Court in a landmark voting rights case.

Leo, an adviser to the Judicial Education Project and a key figure in a network of nonprofits that has worked to support the nominations of conservative judges, told Conway that he wanted her to "give" Ginni Thomas "another $25K," the documents show. He emphasized that the paperwork should have "No mention of Ginni, of course."

This is just disgusting how blatantly corrupt the Supreme Court has become. Of course, this corruption was facilitated by Republicans, because the right wing judges on the court know that they are untouchable since Republicans will never impeach their own. Power over principle.

Are dirty. I don’t think there’s any other way to say it. They’re dirty. Money and power have corrupted them. If I as a civil servant had done anything close to what they’ve been accused of, I’d be out on my ass. It’s disheartening to see how far and how fast our ethical standards have fallen.

A court without ethics oversight and “absolute power.” Which as they say, “corrupts absolutely.”

Dark money and a court of partisan hacks with a political ideology that denotes an intersection between fascism and Christianity. Oh, and they all lied to get seated on this corrupt court. Think about all the corrupt maneuvering that went into forcing these right wing hacks onto this corrupt court. Makes me sick 🤢

Thomas should be hanging his head in shame. And his wife should be under investigation for seditious conspiracy for asking Republican officials in the states to overturn their elections by sending fake slates of electors, which they did.

needs to act. If they don't want this to go deeper then Roberts needs to be told to go tell Cash-n-Carry Clarence that it's time to go. If not then DOJ has to open an investigation because this is way too out of hand with the crookedness.

it wouldn't have taken so long to uncover this mass of corruption, and likely so much more.

I kinda wish the Senate would hold hearings and subpoena all the people involved, (except Clarence Thomas of course) Ginni needs to be the FIRST then EVERYONE else that this story leads to. Our democracy depends on it. Hell the SC of today can decide anything, anyway they decide it. We cannot let this go on with no response!

Leonard Leo Should be a HOUSEHOLD NAME by now
The fact that he isn’t, is either a failure of the free press or the lack of civics education and literacy.

These puppet masters names are not repeated enough.

A quick experiment
152,000 google results for “Leonard Leo”
7.8 million for “George Soros”

Which one has had the most outsized influence and power in the US?
