INDIANAPOLIS – Federal authorities charged four people in connection with a scheme to steal guns and sell them in Indianapolis. According to the U.S. Department of Justice, the operation involved intercepting gun shipments passing through a transit terminal in Indianapolis. The individuals then provided those guns to other people for distribution and sale.

At the center of the scheme was Bruce A. Williams, who worked for a shipping company and conspired with other employees and two other individuals—Zackary Doss and Kevin Jones Jr.—to obtain and distribute the firearms, federal authorities said.

The operation involved at least 200 guns. The firearms, sent by a manufacturer, were passing through Indianapolis and on their way to a federally licensed gun dealer.

The transit company is on south Tibbs. Prosecutors say the thefts began in March 2022. “Some of these criminals apparently viewed [the shipments] as a soft target,” said U.S District Attorney Zachary Myers, “and an opportunity to steal guns that they otherwise couldn’t possess in order to make a profit along the way.”

Friday, April 21, 2023
For Immediate Release
U.S. Attorney's Office, Southern District of Indiana

Indianapolis- Bruce A. Williams II, 31, Zackary Dean Doss, 26, and Kevin Todd Jones, Jr. 21, have been charged in a federal indictment with Conspiracy to Receive, Possess, Store, or Sell Stolen Firearms. Williams and Doss have also been charged with Possession of Firearms by a Felon, and Jones has been charged with Possession or Sale of a Stolen Firearm. A fourth man, Ryan Hurt, 28, also of Indianapolis, has been charged in a related criminal complaint with Possession of Stolen Firearms.

As of today, Williams, Doss, and Hurt have been arrested. On April 20, 2023, each of them made their initial appearance in federal court. Williams and Doss have been detained by the U.S. Marshal Service as they await a detention hearing at a later date. Hurt has been released on GPS monitoring.

Kevin Jones, Jr. is still at large. If you have any information regarding the whereabouts of Kevin Jones, Jr., please contact Crime Stoppers at 317-262-TIPS (8477).

According to court documents and information presented in open court, beginning on or before March 2, 2022, Williams, Doss, Jones, and others conspired together to steal over 200 firearms from the Indianapolis terminal of an interstate shipping company. Williams and other participants in the conspiracy were employees of the shipping company. These insiders identified shipments of firearms at the terminal, stole firearms from the shipments, and arranged to sell the stolen firearms. Members of the conspiracy also kept some of the stolen firearms for their own personal use.

Doss and Jones purchased stolen firearms from other members of the conspiracy. Doss and Jones sold some of the stolen firearms to other individuals. Doss and Jones are prohibited from possessing firearms under federal law because they are previously convicted felons.

"This is how many thousands of guns get illegally intercepted, distributed to unauthorized buyers, and sold to people who are not permitted to own them."

It is exactly as you say. Every illegally used gun was in the hands of legal gun groomers. This Indiana story about leakage shows how many levels of the legal gun groomer system are, well, leaking.

It is one thing when a bad legal gun groomer fails too properly secure the gun which is then stolen and used to kill and crime.
It is something else entirely when the manufacturers and legal dealers don't know, don't care, don't report the lost weapons.

The Feds "also said it’s possible some of the shipments may not have been reported because of gaps in the system, making it difficult to determine exactly how many firearms were involved."

Every legal gun apologist is defending crime and corruption and death.
This just a small time Indiana story, but it is repeated on massive scale around the world as legal in America guns go to the dealers selling to the worst of humanity; the kind of people just itching to scratch their egos with the money and deaths of others.
