Obama pressing business and labor on fiscal cliff ("They'll still be wealthy")

Source: AP-Excite

By KEN THOMAS

WASHINGTON (AP) - In a challenge to Republicans, President Barack Obama urged Congress on Wednesday to extend expiring tax cuts immediately for all but the nation's highest income earners as a way to eliminate half of the so-called "fiscal cliff" that threatens to send the economy back into recession.

"What I'm not going to do is to extend Bush tax cuts for the wealthiest 2 percent that we can't afford and according to economists will have the least positive impact on the economy," the president said at his first news conference since his re-election last week.

Standing in the East Room of the White House, Obama pointedly noted he had campaigned on a platform that called for allowing tax breaks to expire as scheduled on Dec. 31 for the wealthiest income earners.

"A modest tax increase on the wealthy is not going to break their backs," Obama said. "They'll still be wealthy."

The President isn't the one I was referrring to. Why does the Media aka the Press(, not the President) keep bringing this up, why can't they let it go was my question?

"I like how he ran the Olympics." - POTUS

Really? That's all Mittens has going for him & we really need to let him fade into idle obscurity.

so he just offered up the Olympic thing as a way to answer them yet at the same time get them to move on.

Really the Media just needs to get over the fact that their darling
Mittens lost in a Landslide and deal with reality.

I agree with you Mittens just needs to fade into obscurity.
