Liberal candidate Janet Protasiewicz advances in Wisconsin Supreme Court race
Source: MSN
Milwaukee County Judge Janet Protasiewicz, a liberal candidate, is projected to advance to the April 4 general election in the Wisconsin Supreme Court race after she became the top vote-getter on Tuesday, according to The Associated Press.
Protasiewicz was one of two liberal candidates vying for a seat on the Wisconsin Supreme Court, which was left open after conservative Justice Patience Roggensack announced she would not be seeking another term. Protasiewicz will be going head to head against a conservative candidate wither Jennifer Dorow or Daniel Kelly for the open seat in April.
The state Supreme Court race has drawn national attention given that Roggensacks retirement leaves an even 3-3 partisan split on the court, meaning that whoever wins the open seat will tilt its ideological makeup. Among some of the issues that the new state Supreme Court could weigh in on could include abortion rights, redistricting and even possible future election result disputes.

(51,134 posts)According to the split at 8:05 pm, Daniel Kelly holds 221,205 votes and Jennifer Dorow holds 198,982. So...unless Dorow can shit 23,000 unanswered votes, she's out of the race after tonight. And...that makes sense: not only is the woman an extremist, the only thing she's really got to her credit is presiding over an open-and-shut case. I mean, I could have sent Darrell Brooks to the hoosegow for life in that trial and I've never even been to law school.

I suspect it's going to be a close race in April. I hope sanity prevails, but my time in rural Wisconsin leaves me with some doubts in that regard.

(90,862 posts)That it hasn't changed all that much since I lived there back in the 1980s.
I hope the Rs can be outnumbered at some point. If enough elections, particularly this one and the next, go in our favor Wisconsin has a chance at correcting a lot of the problems the magats created.

I'm hoping to sell my land and bail to somewhere like CO this year. I'll miss the wide variety of cheese.

(90,862 posts)You've got to do what you've got to do. I got over the cheese selections, besides, there's a;ways mail order. Last place I lived in when I was there had a creamery across the alley. Not a city alley, a wide open country lane kind of alley. Some of the smell can make you not like cheese so much anymore!

Daniel Kelly 232,299 votes 24.2%
Jennifer Dorow 209,586 votes 21.9%
Everett Mitchell 71,768 votes 7.5%
So it looks like Janet's percentage (46.4%) is a tiny bit more than the two repugs combined vote (46.1%)
