(130,948 posts)so always very active (in terms of people and traffic) around there including being a main El stop in NE Philly. There are 3 streets that actually intersect there.
The media rarely if ever mentions the El (elevated) trains here in Philly preferring to tout Chicago's and NYC's elevated lines instead. But anyone familiar with those rail lines, the El here is similar (but goes underground when downtown and comes back out again on its West Philly leg.

(3,374 posts)K & A intersection has always been very problematic. Elsewhere, I've read people freaking out that the area is "turning" bad and it's because of the Dems. No, it's been bad and loaded with crime for decades. I would not have been surprised to hear of a big shooting there is 1992 just as I am mot surprised now. I don't mean to sound cold or ignorant about Philly's current problems. Obviously, Kensington has gotten worse in terms of drugs. But people everywhere will use this as another "see, the Dems want to turn every USA city and suburb into a cesspool like Philly." Meanwhile, it's been GQP who have roadblocked attempts at aid in these neighborhoods along with political corruption and a lack of gun control.
