Kanye West is buying conservative social media platform Parler, company says

Last edited Mon Oct 17, 2022, 07:06 AM - Edit history (1)

Source: CNBC

Kanye West, the superstar rapper who has made several inflammatory and antisemitic comments in recent weeks, has agreed in principle to buy conservative social media platform Parler, the app’s parent company said in a statement Monday. In a world where conservative opinions are considered to be controversial we have to make sure we have the right to freely express ourselves,” said West, who now goes by Ye, in a statement released by Parler.

The move comes after Ye was locked out of his Twitter and Instagram accounts for making antisemitic remarks. In one post, Ye played into a long-standing antisemitic conspiracy theory that fellow rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs is being controlled by Jewish people. Ye’s net worth is reportedly $2 billion. Much of his fortune comes from from his Yeezy sneakers brand and partnerships with Gap and Adidas. However, Ye severed business ties with Gap recently, and Adidas said it’s also reviewing its business relationship with him. JPMorgan Chase also cut ties with the rapper.

Parler is one of several right-wing-friendly platforms to emerge during the Donald Trump era, as the former president’s supporters claim unfair treatment by Twitter and other apps. There’s also Gettr, which is run by former Trump advisor Jason Miller, and Trump’s own app, Truth Social, whose parent company is under federal investigation as it seeks to go public. Conservative-friendly video platform Rumble went public last month.

Parler was swept in controversy last year over the role it played in the Jan. 6, 2021, riots at the Capitol building. That led a slew of tech companies, including Google and Amazon, to blacklist the service, rendering its app and website inaccessible. In September, however, Google reinstated the app on its Play Store, stating the company modified some of its content moderation policies and enforcement. Apple restored the app on its App Store platform in April 2021.

Music, apparel & sports titan is acquiring leading free-speech Platform

NASHVILLE, Tenn., Oct. 17, 2022 /PRNewswire/ -- Parlement Technologies announced today that it has entered into an agreement in principle to sell Parler, the world's pioneering uncancelable free speech platform, to Ye (formerly known as Kanye West). Ye has become the richest Black man in history through music and apparel and is taking a bold stance against his recent censorship from Big Tech, using his far-reaching talents to further lead the fight to create a truly non-cancelable environment.

"In a world where conservative opinions are considered to be controversial we have to make sure we have the right to freely express ourselves," says Ye.

The proposed acquisition will assure Parler a future role in creating an uncancelable ecosystem where all voices are welcome. Ye can be found on Parler here.

Parlement Technologies CEO George Farmer welcomes Ye as a compatriot in the fight for free speech. "This deal will change the world, and change the way the world thinks about free speech. Ye is making a groundbreaking move into the free speech media space and will never have to fear being removed from social media again. Once again, Ye proves that he is one step ahead of the legacy media narrative. Parlement will be honored to help him achieve his goals."

Why do we call Parler a "conservative" social media platform?

We speak how the racist, bigots, sexist Magats want us to speak.

Another reason I only watch Nicolle Wallace is because she always calls Trump the disgraced twice impeached ex-president.

I won't call Trump supporting politicians, Republicans, they are all Magats except for people like Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger.

He has a history of doing that "for his music". In addition, if he is self-medicating with weed or something else, then he could be exacerbating things. Weed can dramatically multiply the symptoms of Bipolar. No idea how his narcissism fits into this - but I'm sure not well.

"money corrupts" and "money is the root of all evil"

rings true. I must also point out that, and it doesn't apply to a lot of rich people, but I've noticed money creates psychos be it because they feel superior or something like that, i.e Musk, West, Favre, etc.

10. The Love of Money
Mon Oct 17, 2022, 07:42 AM
Oct 2022

I think the quote goes "The love of money is the root of all evil". However, some older people correct younger people and say even if what you wrote is not the actual quote that should be the quote and it is more accurate.

I think money has the ability to corrupt people because money has the ability to bring around sycophants who will not tell people the truth. In some cases, people want access to the money of a wealthy person, so they will not tell the wealthy person anything the wealthy person does not want to hear because they risk not getting money for the rich person. Money and celebrity can also cause people to fear the wealthy, so the wealthy can get away with things with which others cannot. This seems to cause some rich people to take chances they should not take because they think they will not pay a consequence because in so many previous instances they did not pay a consequence.

I think the owners of Parler are not looking for financial or managerial expertise; I think they are looking for a fool to take a failing company off their hands while giving them a fairly large payday.

Sorry, if your post was meant to be sarcastic and I did not get the sarcasm.

for dumb people who spend upwards 1000's on his shoes.... why the f do people want to spend that kind of money on yeezy shoes?

i can easily buy counterfeit yeezy from my chinese source at 10-20$ and make a hefty profit on Amazon, it will come with 'authentic' box and a fake recipe from footlocker.

same with Nike shoes... why would people buy them when Phil Knight is actively giving millions to GOP? hell Last week, Phil Knight, the billionaire co-founder of Nike, donated $1 million to Republican candidate Christine Drazan after bankrolling the campaign of an independent who has turned the election into a toss-up.

At least around here. Having money suddenly makes you more than everyone else. Just watch how regular people act when a limo drives up. They gawk and drool. We are programmed to worship money. So, Kan'Ye' West has clout and power. Why? Well, that goes back to my first statement. The only fools who are losing money are the ones who keep giving it to him.
