Warnock, a first-term Democrat and pastor of Atlantas Ebenezer Baptist Church, leads Walker by 50% to 38%, according to a poll of 1,076 likely voters taken from Sept. 30 though Oct. 4 by Survey USA for an Atlanta-based television outlet. Previous polls showed the race to be much closer or even statistically tied.
Almost all of the polling was completed before the evening of Oct. 3, when the Daily Beast reported that Walker had paid for a former girlfriends abortion 13 years ago. Walker, who supports a national ban on abortion, has called the Daily Beast report untrue.
A former football star and longtime Donald Trump acolyte, Walker has also in recent days been publicly criticized and called a liar on social media by his 23-year-old son, Christian.
Walkers support is especially weak among women, according to the poll. Although male voters were evenly split on the two candidates, women favored Warnock by a margin of 29 points. The poll, conducted for WXIA TVs 11 Alive news, has a margin of error of 3.7 percentage points.

(103,778 posts)Even without the specific abortion issue, this cretin has to remind every one of them (regardless of race) of the very worse they have encountered from men in their lives--whether "exes" or those who assert (or try to assert) authority over them.

(9,999 posts)I'm cautiously optimistic about Reverend Warnock's chances.
Less optimistic about Stacey's chances, which is a real shame, since she's brilliant, and one of our finest candidates. Since it's a Purple state, I'm thinking she'll finish closer than Beto & Charlie will in their Governor races.

I'm so sick of this crap, and they do it all the time. RepubliQans "surge" while Democrats "cling."

(5,410 posts)but the last few days have been pretty bad for Walker... lol
If there is to be a "pink wave" or women's surge against Republican candidates in this election,
the women of Georgia have a LOT more reasons to vote against Walker, than just abortion rights...
What excites me most about this poll result, is the margin of women against Walker... against him by 29 percent, whereas men are split more evenly. If that is near accurate, it will be impossible for Walker to win.

(11,971 posts)I guess if this poll holds it won't but has Warnock been consistently over 50?
DemocraticPatriot
(5,410 posts)This is the only poll I can recall which showed him at over 50 percent... but there are undecideds of course.
I presume there are some small 3rd-party candidates on the ballot, as it has been noted that a run-off is possible.

(15,461 posts)The party as well as the conservative nutbag churches will never give up one of their candidates no matter how many times one of their candidates betrays a GOP tenet, but the voters will. If they can't support a religious candidate like Warnock who is pro-choice, they also can't support one that's actually been involved with a woman getting an abortion. They'll probably still vote, but they'll sit out the Senate race.

(7,396 posts)this is the first time I've read where Warnock was ahead to any degree. From my reading this excerpt, it appears the poll is an Atlanta tv news source (?) based in Atlanta? If only the rest of the state was like Atlanta.
xing fingers it becomes a trend.

And yet Abrams who has been so good on so many issues is still 5 pts or so behind the guy who arguably cheated her out of office with massive voter purges in 2018

The only thing that could make it better would be if this woman made an ad for Warnock.
