Rove Accuses Obama Campaign Of ‘Suppressing The Vote’
Source: Think Progress
Karl Rove insisted that Barack Obama won re-election by suppressing the vote, during an appearance on Fox News Thursday, even though the president secured more popular and electoral votes than challenger Mitt Romney and grew his margins within certain voting blocks.
Rove whose American Crossroads organizations spent $300 million in a mostly unsuccessful effort to defeat Democrats attempted to diminish Obamas victory by explaining that the president won less popular votes in 2012 than in 2008, and only got more votes
among Latinos. He complained that Obama characterized Romney, a former Bain executive, as a rich guy who cares about himself a message voters largely embraced.

(29 posts)I am always flabbergasted at how Karl Rove ALWAYS accuses the other side of things he is doing.
Let me enlighten you MR. ROVE. There are many reasons your side lost in spite of all the money you spent. You are 1%, we are the rest of the people. WE tried to suppress the vote? Do you know how stupid you sound? What do you think all those people stood in line for all those hours? Rick Scott did everything possible to suppress the vote. I am so happy those people did that. Did you see the people in line with baby strollers? Think, if you will, the problems they had feeding their babies and how they changed diapers.
We did not like you fighting against the unions and the teachers and the policemen and the firemen. We did not like the thought of where we would be without our Social Security , Medicare, Medicade and the other social issues you were against.
We did not like the opinion expressed by Romney of what he thought of the middle class.
We did not like Paul Ryans budget. We do not like the way your party lied and flip flopped over every issue . We did not like Romney sending our jobs overseas when he was with Bain.
You people that are angry that you lost. Believe me, you have WON. We have saved you.
There are really more reasons you were defeated. You were trying desperately to give us another George Bush.I proudly stand as a Democrat.

(1,920 posts)Actual voter suppression -- which Rove is, of course, heavily involved in -- is finally getting public attention. He doesn't want that attention paid to voter suppression as that will make it harder to do in the future, among other things. So he's linking the term to something that it doesn't really mean, in an effort to dilute its real meaning and therefore dilute interest in it and the efforts to combat it.
He's muddying the term in order to neutralize it. It's not accidental, not at all.
