I'm definitely pro-death penalty in the 1st degree murder of a child. He doesn't even deserve thoughts or prayers. Predators can't be rehabilitated.

I am saying this purely on legal grounds, not the horror of the crime. With the recent SCOTUS ruling that federal courts can't be burdened with defendants appealing from state courts on the grounds of shitty defense representation the guy has no chance.

Devils advocate. Say there was a chance the state screwed up the DNA evidence and his attorney was just stupid or whatever and it made it to the State Supreme Court and the conviction was upheld. The accused no longer has recourse to plea to the feds to hear his case because of a shitty defense lawyer due to that ruling. As Thomas basically said, the federal courts are busy enough.

This is the arrogance and false assumption of power this current court has. These justices are just fucking stupid thinking THEY answer to no one. Their reckoning is coming.
