TOKYO (AP) Toyota is recalling 2,700 bZ4X crossover vehicles globally for wheel bolts that could become loose, in a major setback for the Japanese automakers ambitions to roll out electric cars.
Toyota Motor Corp. said Friday the cause is still under investigation, but the whole wheel could come off, risking a crash.
Until the remedy is available, no one should drive these vehicles, the company said in a statement.
Among the vehicles subject to the latest recall, about 2,200 were destined for Europe, 270 for North America, 112 for Japan, and 60 for the rest of Asia, according to Toyota. They were produced between March and June.

(4,274 posts)else notice how any recall involving an electric vehicle gets big attention from the media but recalls for gas hogs don't get the same level of attention? Just like I'm seeing tons of media all bitching about gas prices but pretty much zero for articles talking about how to drive more efficiently, conserve by better planning for errands, using delivery services etc. I also see no articles talking about how for the past 20 years the states have pushed for higher and higher speed limits which we know uses more fuel and is more harmful to the environment. So as the EPA made gains in required fuel efficiency and emissions they were squandered.
Of course the oil companies etc. are ripping everybody off but the best and most immediate help you can give yourself is to drive as efficiently as possible and to find ways to not drive as much. I don't feel one bit sorry for people who bought a large relatively inefficient vehicle and now want to bitch about gas prices. They made the choice knowing it sucked fuel worse than other choices. But it's rather maddening that while bitching about prices at the pump they don't back off the throttle or combine trips etc. but instead choose the lazy way out and blame Biden.

Sounds like some substandard machining happened.
