Russia warns Britain of immediate 'proportional response' for 'provoking' Ukraine to attack

Source: The Guardian

Russia’s defence ministry has warned of an immediate “proportional response” if Britain continues its “direct provocation” of Ukraine to strike targets in Russia, Reuters reports.

The ministry cited statements from the UK’s armed forces minister, James Heappey, that said Britain backs Ukrainian troops carrying out strikes in Russian territory. Speaking earlier today, Heappey said it was “not necessarily a problem” if Ukraine uses weapons donated by Britain.

We would like to underline that London’s direct provocation of the Kiev regime into such actions, if such actions are carried out, will immediately lead to our proportional response.

As we have warned, the Russian Armed Forces are in round-the-clock readiness to launch retaliatory strikes with high-precision long-range weapons at decision-making centers in Kyiv.

This one battle was a major contributor to the overthrow of the Russian
Monarchy, the Russian Revolution, WWI, Pacific WWII and other things.

Notice the parallels between Japan's declaration of war with Russia and that of the USA.

If they have any working high precision battlefield missiles, they aren't firing them.

I don't doubt they have a working space missile program, but that is an expensive launch for conventional warheads.

Not just as a threat to one fledgling democracy, but to all of Europe. Stop allowing Putin to divide and conquer. Where some NATO countries help, outside of NATO, and are targeted individually.

Time to not only support the UK, but say "us too!" I do not know why NATO is not taking advantage of public support right now to end this sooner than later.

I'm not a war monger. Which is why when it seems like some kind of violent response is the only way to counter a madman like Putin, it has to be done quickly, and efficiently. If there is the potential of having overwhelming forces to quickly snuff out this genocide, then DO IT!

But I fear NATO will sit on its hands until Ukraine is flattened and bombed into the stone age. Thousands more dead and injured. And Putin is eyeing more expansion beyond Ukraine. So sad for Ukraine people being used like a science experiment by NATO. Waiting for the beaker to boil over.

I don't think NATO is "sitting on its hands." Looks like we're effectively getting weapons into Ukraine without triggering nuclear war.

It's interesting how folks who in the past didn't take Putin seriously and were supposedly opposed to war are suddenly running around with their hair on fire. Fortunately calmer people are in charge.

Sure yw, that's what I'm doing. If you mean passionate and concerned about the carnage and looking for ways to stop it sooner...damn rights. Must be nice to be able to be so chill about it.

NATO is NOT "getting weapons into Ukraine". They are very carefully sitting on their hands in that regard. Its up to individual countries, NATO members or not, to do that under their own flags. Usually its equipment that those countries regard as expendable older tech.

Which may be enough. I think NATO is hoping it is. And eventually it may work. After many more deaths. But lets not kid ourselves. If NATO, US forces + European and other NATO countries really wanted to lay down a beating and drive Russia out pronto, using their tech, their new equipment, their fighters,.....they could.

How in the hell does the aggressor think that they get to dictate the terms and conditions of the battlefield? Ukraine should send terror cells straight into Moscow and start blowing the hell out of the place. That is a sure-fire way to get Russian troops pulled back from the border and Ukrainian territory in general.

Sorry Putin, you reap what you sew. Take the fight to the Russians in any way possible.

Specifically northern Western support--not the South.

A number of African countries still partner with Russia, even having the Wagner Group "helping" their military in exchange for concessions to Russia. Many South American countries are neutral--"let's be friends with everybody." India is India, needing cheap oil and having a long-standing "neutral" quasi-alliance with the USSR and now Russia. Then there's China. Even the PLO is vaguely anti-anti-Russia, Iran's helping Russia procure arms.

Bubbles are bad, unless they're in beer or champagne.

LatAm’s milquetoast response in our final seminar yesterday.
It’s hard to convey to people just how much Latin American countries really don’t like attention turned on them (unless it’s lavish economic attention, and then all bets are off). Plus, there are many countries that will do/say whatever is the polar opposite of US policy.

There's not a lot of middle ground there.

After all, Russia's convinced it's the epitome of goodness and caring, so only somebody truly evil--a nazi!--could be neutral, much less anti-Russia.

To allow that Ukraine's attacking its attacker isn't a big deal is to be neutral--which is to say, to be a dire enemy.

Moscow should be facing (minimally) a threat of strikes right now. Don't bully or threaten the world or you will pay. Enough Vlad. Die already. It's tragic your citizenry knows nothing of your atrocities in Ukraine. Kinda like the Nazis. The free world is not going to be held hostage to your continued, unprovoked, unwarranted acts of genocide. Use a nuke or chemical, and you will pay dearly. Nuff said.
