(3,164 posts)....the fact that some states, in the wake of last year's protests, passed laws making it legal for someone to plow into a group of protestors on the road.
Did the driver mistake the parade for a protest? I don't know - nor do I know if Wisconsin passed one of these ignorant "crash into people you don't like" laws.

(43,959 posts)And where such laws have been enacted they dont apply to lawful gatherings (such as a parade for which there is a permit such as this one).

(9,626 posts)Governor Evers has been in charge to prevent the legalization of any of that nonsense. Not sure if the Republicans in the legislature have tried to pass any law permitting running down protestors.

(23,675 posts)say that shots were also fired. No one knows yet if the shots came from the SUV or were fired at it in an attempt to stop it.
An update says there are more deaths than one.
The SUV has been recovered so the driver ID is known, but no report yet on whether the driver is in custody.
WTF is going on? Attacking a Christmas parade??? What the hell for?

(4,815 posts)..hoping to stop the vehicle. (No injuries resulted from his actions.) They now have a person of interest in custody.
The fire chief said that 12 children were among the victims transported by EMS to area hospitals.
Awful. I find myself hoping that it was a drunk, not a deliberate act.

(1,851 posts)MSNBC is reporting unconfirmed statements that the SUV was fleeing a crime scene in another section of town, may have been a stabbing. Nothing confirmed except that police are saying there was a "previous criminal incident" involving the vehicle.
