hRepublicans are rallying around Sens. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) and Kyrsten Sinema (D-Ariz.), the centrists who are in a fierce battle with progressives in their party.
Senate Republicans, despite having many policy differences with Manchin and Sinema, are singing their praises, knowing that they will be key to stopping or slowing President Bidens ambitious agenda.
Both Democrats would be top Republican targets in 2024 if they decide to run for reelection, and GOP leaders are usually loath to offer praise to such lawmakers.
But in a 50-50 Senate, where Manchin and Sinema can make or break Bidens policy goals, many Republicans hail them as saviors.

Fox News has written very favorable articles about both as of late.

Either way, it's never a good idea to negotiate with hostage takers

(10,464 posts)They're making sure the public isn't even aware it is republicans who do nothing. They, with plenty of help from the complicit corporate media,, are making the Democratic Party look terrible because they are keeping things from getting done.
I'm gonna get the popcorn ready for when their lickspittle defenders come along to tell us we must love them.
I am still amazed how the media still labels these two as 'centrists'.

(10,332 posts)But with their current stances, the best we will likely see is a largely watered down reconciliation bill, along with the infrastructure bill. Im not even sure well see voting rights passed because both have declared numerous times that they would not vote to end it so now it would be hugely embarrassing to do so.
That may be all we see before the 2022 election because neither Sinema nor Manchin seem concerned about getting anything done. I cant remember what else is in the queue that the House has already passed. If the Senate operated as speedily as the House, these bills would have passed months ago.

(7 posts)Chuck Schumer is a milk toast leader at best who let's McConnell punch him in the stomach daily.
We need fighters willing to fight back against these traitors, while I have respect for Nancy Pelosi to get things done, I lack confidence in Schumer twisting arms and making deals to get things done in the senate.
SouthernDem4ever
(6,618 posts)but Dems are more civiliized. So we have to stick to just twisting arms, not breaking them. Hopefully, someday manchin and sinema will appreciate the difference, or get better Democrats to replace them.
