The "Chicago Tribune" endorses President Obama!

Last edited Sat Oct 27, 2012, 04:49 PM - Edit history (1)

Source: "Chicago Tribune"

"If a European debt meltdown doesn’t stoke another, pardon our repetition, global financial crisis, Obama’s next term would open to less economic tumult: Friday morning’s GDP reading confirms anew that U.S. economic growth has a fluttering heartbeat. Home prices are stabilizing, the stock market and consumer confidence have risen, and job growth has been steady if unspectacular.

Bolstered by his steadiness in office, cognizant of the vast unfinished business before him, we endorse the re-election of Barack Obama.

We do so with a plea to Obama and to Romney.

One of these decades, the children in which we now invest our hope, and our love, will speak with today’s adults about the America that we bequeathed to them. They will praise us for avoiding the financial ravages they watch other nations endure. Or they will condemn us for living ruinously beyond our means and forcing the enormous payback onto them -- a criminal act no previous American generation has committed against those that came next."

I quit reading it long, long ago. As mentioned above, they usually endorse Republicans. That's why, plus they bought the Cubs. And oh how I loathe the Cubs.

Rahm just gave the Ricketts family hell for funnelling money up to WI for a Republican superPAC. Public relations are tense around about this team's ownership, but for all corporatists, hey, business is business, profit is profit.

question everything

Someone is rolling in his grave. A paper that was known to be an arm of the Chicago Republican Party, that supported McCarthy and of course, of the fame "Dewey defeats Truman."

(it might stop others from searching for 'Tribune', and then thinking this news hasn't been posted ...)

Oh, and LBN rules say you ought to use the title from the link - ie "Tribune endorses Obama: Our children's America" (you could add a &quot Chicago)" in front of that, to make it clear, ie &quot Chicago) Tribune endorses Obama: Our children's America"

but I'm not sure why it's such a surprise to people given that they've endorsed him before and it's one of his hometown (though not Dem friendly) papers.

Am still digesting the endorsement, but really liked how this reader responded to some teabag shit being posted:

Muscatel · Top Commenter · Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT)

Did you read this at all? Have you people been only listening to WLS all day? Look, I'm a moderate Republican and I cant' stomach the BS that comes out of Romney. Have you seen any of the videos put together of him debating himself. It has him taking opposite positions on issues from just the past year. How can you trust a guy like that? He just wants to win to steer more business to his Mormon cronies and Bane, much like Cheney when he took over, going into Iraq to drive billions to Halliburton. DO you think Romney put $45M of his own money into this just because he wants to help America and its citizens? No Fing way. This is all about ego and making money for this guy and his family legacy.

Republicans for Obama!! Tea party can go build a commune in Montana.
