Several tied to Haiti assassination plot were previously US law enforcement informants
Source: CNN
(CNN)Several of the men involved in the operation that killed Haiti's president previously worked as US law enforcement informants, according to people briefed on the matter, as US investigators grapple with an increasing number of Florida links to the alleged hit squad.
At least one of the men arrested by Haitian authorities previously worked as an informant for the US Drug Enforcement Administration, the DEA said in a statement in response to CNN.
"At times, one of the suspects in the assassination of Haitian President Jovenel Moïse was a confidential source to the DEA," the DEA said in a statement.
"Following the assassination of President Moïse, the suspect reached out to his contacts at the DEA. A DEA official assigned to Haiti urged the suspect to surrender to local authorities and, along with a U.S. State Department official, provided information to the Haitian government that assisted in the surrender and arrest of the suspect and one other individual," the DEA said.

This whole "operation" stinks to high heaven. Now Haiti is supposedly asking for US troops??

(6,838 posts)Moises, were mercenaries for hire.
Our government liked Moises, and was supporting him in his efforts to stay in power until next year. His opponents wanted him out now, saying his term ended in Feb.
Moises had a lot of enemies among Haitian ex-pats.
This may be one time that the US actually wasn't involved.

(6,838 posts)It is this guy Sanon, who did not like Moises. He had been living in Florida, but recently returned to Haiti. They found his place in Haiti with a bunch guns, weapons. He wanted to take Moises's place as president.
26 former Columbian soldiers apparently were hired in this killing, with 23 arrested. It looks like they were hired by Sanon, some accompanied him back to Haiti in June.

Sanon has lived in Broward County in Florida, as well as in Hillsborough County on the Gulf Coast. Records also show he resided in Kansas City, Missouri. He filed for bankruptcy in Florida in 2013 and identified himself as a medical doctor in a video on YouTube titled Leadership for Haiti.
However, records show Sanon has never been licensed to practice medicine or any other occupation covered by Floridas Department of Health.
Sanon said in court papers filed in a 2013 bankruptcy case in Florida that he was a physician and a pastor at the Tabarre Evangelical Tabernacle in Haiti. He said he had stakes in enterprises including the Organization of Rome Haiti, which he identified as a non-governmental organization, a radio station in Haiti and medical facilities in Haiti and the Dominican Republic.
At the time of his bankruptcy, he and his wife reported income of $5,000 per month, and a home in Brandon, Florida, valued at about $143,000, with a mortgage of more than $367,000. A federal bankruptcy trustee later determined they hid ownership of about 35 acres in Haiti from creditors.
Florida records show Sanon started about a dozen businesses over the last 20 years, all of which failed,

And I am sure he had help among other Haitian ex-pats who did not like Moises.
President Moises was pretty much 'our guy' in Haiti, we wanted to keep him, not get rid of him.

(19,568 posts)It looks as if a citizen from here, who is a former Haitian, might have had a hand in it without our sanctioning for his own personal gain.
Time will tell, but this does not a have sanctioned air about it.

(6,838 posts)may actually NOT be involved this time.
Our government supported Moises, wanted him to stay in power.
