Eric Trump is pushing for the Trump Organization's financially struggling Miami Doral Resort in South Florida to be turned into a casino to help boost revenues, the Washington Post reported Wednesday.

The Florida state legislature is considering pursuing legislation that would allow real estate developers to grant gambling permits to properties without needing approval or authorization from municipal governments, the Post said.

The bill to accomplish that objective has yet to be written or formally introduced, but is reportedly being spearheaded by the state Senate President Wilton Simpson.

Former President Donald Trump also has a close relationship with Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, which could boost the Trump Organization's fortunes of getting measures favorable to their business interests signed into law.

There are two kinds of casinos in Florida, racinos and tribal casinos.

A racino is a combination parimutuel sports betting establishment and casino. There are three accepted sports that allow betting: horse racing (both thoroughbred and harness), dog racing and jai alai. Either a dog track or a horse track would require more land than the Trumps would want to give up, so jai alai, which is kinda like handball, would be the sport they'd choose.

Otherwise, they'd have to find a tribe willing to partner with them. If you're not a Native American group, you can't build a casino in Florida that's just a casino.

The fun part here is, the Trump family is so bad at running casinos they could very well lose the golf course at the same time.

Florida may be different because the orange monster has half the state government kissing his cottage cheese ass (most of the rest is waiting their turn outside in the horrid humidity), but it takes more than just making a phone call or two.

Here's an idea of what it takes to work (just work, not open, run, operate, or own) a casino:
- A couple dozen different pieces of paperwork. Most of the info demanded is the same on all the copies, but do it any way,
- The paperwork must be filled out by hand. The color of the ink may be specified, depending on the jurisdiction, and it must always be black or blue. Using any other color ink will have your application tossed. Some jurisdictions require black ink only, others specify blue ink only.
- You will be fingerprinted. You must supply at least three different people who will be interviewed as part of your background check. Don't even try to list relatives. Your financial history must be disclosed. You must supply a government-issued ID with your photograph on it.
- List any and all arrests, judgments, and incarcerations. Serving jail time disqualifies you. Connections with known mobsters disqualifies you.

If you get through all that, congrats! You are now allowed to update software on slot machines.

As for owning a casino? That requires even more, which includes all financial and judiciary records of your company or corporation. The file of those papers is about the size of the Chicago phonebook.
