Clyburn slams Ron Johnson: 'The guy is racist'

Source: the hill

By Jordan Williams - 03/17/21 08:15 AM EDT

House Majority Whip James Clyburn (D-S.C.) slammed Sen. Ron Johnson over remarks the Wisconsin Republican made regarding his safety during the deadly Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol.

Johnson has come under fire after he said during an interview on a conservative radio show that he “might have been a little concerned” if Black Lives Matter and antifa protesters stormed the Capitol as opposed to the mob of former President Trump's supporters.
......................
“The moment he prefaced his last statement ‘I know I’m going to get in trouble for this’ and then went on to say, said to me he knew exactly what he was saying,” Clyburn said. "He knew why he was saying it and knew exactly how the reactions would be, he just didn't care.”

“The guy is racist, this is not the first time he has indicated such,” Clyburn said. “I would hope that the people of Wisconsin would take note of this and do what they can to help make this country a better place.”

Sen. Menendez on Ron Johnson: "People who love this country do not desecrate our most sacred democratic institutions and display symbols of racial hatred, like the confederate flag, in the halls of Congress. People who respect law enforcement do not assault Capitol Police."

1. Ron Johnson is a prime example of GOP racism. He's not the only one.

Now that it has come out that Russia was once again involved in the latest election, will Ron and his cohorts spend July 4tth in Russia?

Seems appropriate.

I forget who all took that trip a couple years ago. Did it ever come out what the purpose was? I assume it was their way of celebrating Trump as their leader...or, to get money. Maybe Putin paid them for spreading hate across the U.S. like he instructed them to do. There should be quite a plane-load, this time. They've been busy and haven't stopped spreading his message.

The January 6th insurrectionists were akin to Timothy McVeigh, hardly benign in any sense. They erected a scaffold for what purpose? They violently attacked capitol police, for what purpose? It's not as though they brought tea and cookies. Johnson believes his constituents are more racist than intelligent and he's a cancer on the Senate.

5. As a commenter from another site noted, Johnson's words confirm it was not BLM or Antifa

that invaded the Capital (I know the majority of us at DU were already aware of this).
