Body Camera Video Shows Moments Police Handcuff Innocent, Naked Woman During Wrong Raid

Source: CBS Chicago

December 15, 2020 at 11:05 am

CHICAGO (CBS) — For the first time, police body camera video reveals what an innocent woman said happened to her nearly two years ago: police officers wrongly entered her home with guns drawn and handcuffed her naked as she watched in horror.

...

The video reveals on Feb. 21, 2019, nine body cameras rolled as a group of male officers entered her home at 7 p.m. Not long before, the licensed social worker finished her shift at the hospital and had undressed in her bedroom.

That’s when she said she heard a loud, pounding noise.

Outside, officers repeatedly struck her door with a battering ram. From various angles, the video captured the moments they broke down the door and burst through her home.

“It was so traumatic to hear the thing that was hitting the door,” Young said, as she watched the video. “And it happened so fast, I didn’t have time to put on clothes.”

As they rushed inside with guns drawn, officers yelled, “Police search warrant,” and “Hands up, hands up, hands up.” Seconds later, Young could be seen in the living room, shocked and completely naked, with her hands up.

A social worker of 20 years and probably makes a pittance.

Mayor Lori Lightfoot’s administration tried to block TV station from airing body camera footage of police raid on wrong home

Mayor Lori Lightfoot’s Law Department attempted in court this week to block local news station WBBM-Ch. 2 from airing body camera footage of Chicago police officers raiding an innocent woman’s home and handcuffing her while she was naked.

The city also filed a request to have the woman, Anjanette Young, sanctioned for allegedly violating a confidentiality order.

Disappointing. I like Mayor Lightfoot but this is unacceptable.

This is being reported everywhere in this country. I watched the video, and the police seem to be out of
control. You have to watch this to believe it. The police surly thought they were in the correct apartment, but obviously they were in the wrong apartment.
...The mayor tried to keep the video from being released, but she failed.
Such a sad reflection of the Chicago Police Department and the Mayor Lori Lightfoot. This story and the video are being reported everywhere.
.. Check it out..and Thank You for posting this..This has happened before, and will happen again. One very positive aspect, no one really was hurt or killed as often happens in acts like this by the police.

better get ready for a MAJOR payout to this poor woman. I wonder if in addition to suing the city, she could go after each of these officers............

For years and years and years here in Denver, the city council has been approving record payouts in the millions for Denver Police brutality, and some how the cops always seem to all get their jobs back in the end due to our Civil Service board......

The go back on the street and collect all their "atta boys" from many fellow racist cops.....

MAYOR LIGHTFOOT STATEMENT ON CPD BODY-WORN CAMERA FOOTAGEFROM FEB. 2019 INCIDENT

“Today, I became aware of an incident involving Ms. Anjanette Young from February
2019, before I became Mayor, and I saw a video today for the first time. I had noknowledge of either until today. I had a very emotional reaction to what wasdepicted on the video as I imagine that many people did.“

In 2019, I directed the City’s chief risk officer to review CPD’s search warrant
policies and practices, and recommend improvements where appropriate. As aresult of that work, and in conjunction with the CPD risk manager, a new searchwarrant policy went into effect in January 2020. Among the various changes, thenew policy requires additional CPD supervisory review and sign off before a searchwarrant can be sought from a judge, and there must be separate verification that theproperty in question is indeed the correct location in which evidence of criminalactivity can be found.

I have further directed a review of how this matter was handled by various Citydepartments to determine that there was compliance with City procedures.“

Since this matter is the subject of litigation and an open COPA investigation, I will
have no further comment.”

The mayors statement is weak. What happened to women supporting women who are wronged?. The lady in the video was clearly a victim.

These cops that couldn’t be bothered to get the paper work right will not have to pay a nickel, the citizens will pay for their callous carelessness

Make the cops responsible when they screw up and you will see way less “mistakes “

Lightfoot is on the wrong side here
