House will vote on cannabis legalization bill in December
Source: Politico
A bill to remove federal penalties on marijuana and scrap some cannabis-related records will receive a vote on the House floor in December, according to House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer. In a letter to colleagues Monday, Hoyer outlined the legislative schedule for the lame-duck session in November and December. "The House will vote on the MORE Act to decriminalize cannabis and expunge convictions for non-violent cannabis offenses that have prevented many Americans from getting jobs, applying for credit and loans, and accessing opportunities that make it possible to get ahead in our economy," the letter read. Hoyer's letter did not specify which week the vote will come up, but the House is scheduled to be in session Dec. 1-4 and Dec. 7-10. 1. This sounds like something that should wait until the next term
There's too big a risk this will remind Trump he hasn't raided the San Francisco dispensaries yet.

Perhaps he'll change his mind.

3. He's changed his mind on that.
He used to be dead set against it, but he's softened in the past year. I think he finally "woke" to the fact that marijuana arrests disproportionately effect people of color, and add another hurdle to their employment opportunities. There's absolutely no logical reason for marijuana to be a schedule one drug along with heroin, methamphetamine etc.
That's what I read during the primary contests anyway. Whether he's still onboard with that decision is unknown. He has so many things to clean up after the Trump debacle it may take quite some time to get to it. |

6. Believe it or not, meth is a Schedule II drug
Desoxyn (methamphetamine HCl 5 mg tablets) can be prescribed as a last-line-of-defense treatment for ADHD. They don't like to use it because it is so powerful, but if nothing else works putting the kid on meth usually will.
Cocaine is also a Schedule II drug, used as an anesthetic and vasoconstrictor. The Academy of Otolaryngology says there's nothing that compares to coke. |

10. Yes, this and also
It's probably been pointed out to him that lots of states have legalized it locally and the sky hasn't fallen.

5. Old story...
Ya got something growing in your backyard that might provide relief from whatever, and it's illegal. Medicinal pot should be legal in all 50... ![]() |

8. Rational drug laws?
How many lives have been needlessly ruined due to the insane "war on (some) drugs?"

9. Finally!
About 70 years late, but I'll take whatever progress we can make.
