Postal Service says it will reverse all changes it has made, prioritize election mail

Source: Associate Press

HELENA, Mont. — The U.S. Postal Service agreed Wednesday to reverse changes that slowed mail service nationwide, settling a lawsuit filed by Montana Gov. Steve Bullock during a pandemic that is expected to force many more people to vote by mail.

The lawsuit filed against Postmaster General Louis DeJoy and the U.S. Postal Service on Sept. 9 argued changes implemented in June harmed access to mail services in Montana, resulting in delayed delivery of medical prescriptions, payments, and job applications, and impeding the ability of Montana residents to vote by mail.

The postal service agreed to reverse all changes, which included reduced retail hours, removal of collection boxes and mail sorting machines, closure or consolidation of mail processing facilities, restriction of late or extra trips for timely mail delivery, and banning or restricting overtime.

The agreement also requires the Postal Service to prioritize election mail.

The settlement agreement was reached a day ahead of a hearing in the U.S. District Court in Great Falls. It applies to all states.

6. D'ja think DeJoy reads the writing on the electoral walls . . .

and realizes his actions will have consequences when there's a Democratic majority?

10. Could very well be.

I say kiss all your donation$$$$$$$$ goodbye DeJoy. You were destined to get thrown under the bus anyway, like all the other sycophants before you who didn't "deliver" what the ever-wanting mob boss expected.

8. It will take months to reverse those changes. New machines will have to be purchased, produced and

assembled. There are probably going to be many new machines purchased while they’re already sinking financially.

11. No reason for that to be a USPS problem.

The money for the new machines should come out of DeJoy's pocket.

12. Translated: "Don't drop you ballots at election boxes, etc...

mail them via the new fucked up GOP USPS."

I can't wait until Biden is in the Whitehouse, and we can give our hardworking, good men and women of the USPS the Postmaster General they deserve!

18. I'll believe it when I see it

I went to a local PO yesterday in a small NJ one-street town. They always, from almost 40 years ago, had 2 collection boxes, one beside the PO, another down the street. Now they have one, moved and anchored outside the front door. It has only a letter-only slot on the front. In other words you can't mail anything but letters. It's that way inside the PO too. The lobby has only letter-only slots, the old time brass and it's been that way forever too. So if you want to mail a package, you must go inside the PO during retail hours. No more small packages in blue collection boxes.

And the PPE, which is plexiglass just about everywhere, is rolls of plastic food wrap dropped from the ceiling. I shouldn't complain, it works well and is a lot less plastic, but it does look cheap!

what a great way of saving money that was. Dejoy is a moron.

in hiring more people. She says the back up will take weeks to get on top of.
