SCOTUS Nominee Amy Coney Barrett Had Coronavirus Earlier This Year

Source: Huffington Post

Supreme Court nominee Amy Coney Barrett already had coronavirus earlier this year and recovered, The Washington Post first reported and CNN confirmed.

Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah) and Notre Dame President Rev. John I. Jenkins were also at the ceremony in the White House Rose Garden announcing Barrett’s nomination to replace Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg and have since tested positive for the virus, as has White House adviser Hope Hicks.

Barrett tested negative for COVID-19 on Friday, according to the White House.

The Supreme Court nominee had tested positive for the virus this summer, unnamed officials told the Post, but later recovered. An unnamed friend told Time that Barrett had been sick with mild symptoms and had quarantined.

Maybe Hope Hicks is getting a bad rap, since several Republicans who attended Amy Barrett's event have since tested positive.

📌 Real question for enterprising journalists. Amy Coney Barrett apparently had Covid this summer. But she’s a lawyer. And could be very literal. So summer means anything up to September 22. Correct? That’s less than a week before the big super spreader event in Rose Garden.

It seems that the Supreme Court nomination celebration was a superspreader event.

when she had it this summer. If it was June, her immunity is probably gone by now. From what I have read it usually only lasts about three months. My parents had it and that is what I was told by their doctor.
Another thing that is not talked about enough is developing blood clots because of Covid. I know of a young healthy 25 year old woman quarantining at home who died from blood clots. This needs to be talked about more. I hope people are being warned of this who are told to quarantine at home.

People have been saying her contacts should be traced -- as she met with a LOT of Republicans individually -- so announcing she's already had it was to try to hold that off.

Though, the timeline for the Rose Garden event being at least one point of spread the WH matches other people who have had symptoms. The "first COVID-19 case" (aka, the first person who went to the doctor with travel history directly from China after knowing people had been sick in China) reported a subjective cough from his first day back in Seattle, felt unwell enough to seek urgent care given his travel history on day 4 of cough but was still running at or below 100 degrees for five days of coughing. Sixth day his fever became clinical, day 9 he developed pneumonia.

Anybody who caught it Saturday, if we presume that he caught it on the plane back home, could reasonably be expected to not be running over 100.4 until today, at least if they were healthy. And we've already had people reporting fevers, clinical illness, and positive tests in that timeframe.

I think this is a classic example of people relying on a recent test result from the clinic but still screwing around without condoms until 3 months of monogamy and a second confirming test. Testing is great, but it only catches infection after a person has it. And at least I invested in reusable washable masks, instead of disposable expensive "face-condoms". Sure, I look forward to when those 3 months are over, and was glad when science lowered it from six months, but the inconvenience and cost of condoms are far better than catching an STD, even if that person has their "I was clean on this date" card.

There's no way to know until we find out when Chump tested positive. Maybe he met with her, or somebody met with her, before last Saturday in the Rose Garden. Did she have the virus then?

There's a distinct possibility that Chump had the virus before that, knew he had it, and hoped he would remain asymptomatic. As long as he remained asymptomatic, he could go around spreading the virus everywhere. Meanwhile he's practically forbidding people to wear masks around him.

Does anybody doubt that he would actually DO THAT? I don't.

allegedly recovered from covid but still have lingering effects.
No one on the show asked if they could still be shedding or not. I wish they had as there needs to be some digging into who was the spreader at that super spreader Rose Garden event celebrating Barrett's SCOTUS nomination where stupid repugs were hugging and gabbying sans-mask and no social distancing.

Just stupid.

... nor do we know when she recovered. The news stories only told us that she had it "last summer." Well, summer ended less than 2 weeks ago. So take it all with a grain of salt.

Set in Motion Events that have lead to the spread of COVID-19 to the many prominent Republicans. Once again contempt for fairness and arrogance have lead to disaster.
