In a statement on Friday night, vice presidential candidate Kamala Harris honored Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
"Tonight we mourn, we honor, and we pray for Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg and her family. But we also recommit to fight for her legacy," Harris wrote on Friday night. "For all who believe in the power of the law as a force for change, Justice Ginsburg will always be a titan...Justice Ginsburg was known to pose the question 'What is the difference between a bookkeeper in the Garment District and a Supreme Court justice?' Her answer: 'One generation.' She never forgot where she came from, or those who sacrificed to to help her grow into the historic icon we all came to revere." She continued: "In some of her final moments with her family, she shared her fervent wish to 'not be replaced until a new President is installed.' We will honor that wish. Justice Ginsburg used every ounce of life she was bestowed to urge our nation down a path toward equal justice."
In a second post on Saturday morning featuring a photo of Harris and her husband, Douglas Emhoff, hugging while looking at the steps of the Supreme Court, the California senator reminded her followers what this loss means for this country.
"Justice Ginsburg was a titana relentless defender of justice and a legal mind for the ages," she wrote. "The stakes of this election couldnt be higher. Millions of Americans are counting on us to win and protect the Supreme Courtfor their health, for their families, and for their rights."

(19,201 posts)want to erase every trace of her legacy. Republicans are the worst people on then planet. They'd like to erase the democratic party, too. If Trump were to somehow win re-election, you can bet that will be on their "to do" list.

(17,387 posts)...she fought for ruled on, there will be no impact? We can't sit pretty and assume that some Trump appointed judge will not happily rule to erase the cases Judge Ginsberg argued or ruled on.

(2,032 posts)I also think her successes in life have secured her legacy, even if our society moves away from her causes (which I doubt it will do in my lifetime).
I suspect this will be up a very long time:
