Trump directed Homeland Security to give $400 million to firm tied to Bannons We Build the Wall scheme: report
Published 1 min ago on August 20, 2020
President Donald Trump was caught in a precarious position when one of his top former aides and former campaign CEO was indicted for fraud after running a fake effort to build the wall on the southern American border.
Over a year ago, the Pentagon inspector general began looking into a suspicious $400 million contract given from the Department of Homeland Security to the construction company linked to Bannons group. The funds came at Sen. Kevin Cramer (R-ND) and Trumps urging
On Dec. 2, the Pentagon announced a contract worth up to $400 million to Fisher Sand and Gravel for the construction of 31 miles of new border barriers along the Cabeza Prieta National Wildlife Refuge in southern Arizona, said the Washington Post.

CEO Tommy Fisher launched an aggressive effort to try and score a contract, making several appearances on Fox News and paying at least $100,000 in lobbying. Fisher also personally lobbied the president, gave hefty donations to Cramers Senate campaign, and attacked the Army Corps of Engineers for excluding their firm. Fisher was then Cramers guest to Trumps State of the Union Address in 2019. ..........................

Sen. Kevin Cramer (R-ND) needs to do some explaining.

I'm sure trump got to wet his beak.

(19,208 posts)Trump has been getting kickbacks from just about every deal he's pushed through to republican donors and friends. I'd wager Trump has stolen hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars thus far. Trump's best friends in New York were mobsters, crooked lawyers, and shady businessmen. Someday all this is going to come into the light, and Trump is going to prison. I hope his entire family goes right along with him.

(24,911 posts)Trump knew that building a wall with Mexico's money was a perfect proposition to run with the rascists and xenophobes that vote Republican. Once in, they'd have no problem letting the taxpayer pay for it. No question in my mind that this was always the reason Trump wanted that wall built....somewhere in the Cayman Islands there is a shell corporation that's raking in all kinds of $ from the various scams that DJT has been involved with.
The day just keeps on getting better....another hit on the Organized Crime Party.

(34,661 posts)SDNY does Political Corporation as their specialty. Now,Senator Cramer of North Dakota is associated with Fischer Sand and Gravel via carrying water in order to receive 400 million in order for Fischer to even buy any of the material necessary for that wall.
Will be interesting to watch what happens to Cramer.

(3,880 posts)drumphs organized criminal ring has stolen, but there is going to be an endless drumbeat of stories that come out, and a lot of people are going to be brought into the light. The snitches will cover their corrupt asses by turning on each other and probably wont serve a day in prison. They will be humiliated and pilloried in public day in and day out. Fuck these shameless thieves.

(6,276 posts)It's budget, nearly $50 billion, is way too big. And, it's scope is much too broad.
Most of the agencies that were folded into it when it was created need to be taken out and put back where they came from.
The DHS should be an advisory and coordinating agency only.
It concentrates too much power under one control...perfect for a would-be Hitler like Trump to take hold of and transform into a national police force.
It should absolutely not have policing power!

(10,261 posts)The company had never built a wall like this, nor did they have experience with large projects. They did not meet government contracting standards, but Trump told them to award the contract anyway. And the wall they built was so shoddy that its already falling down.

Because it's worth remembering that Bannon, Kushner, Trump Jr (an enthusiastic promoter of We Built The Wall), Erik Prince (on the WBTW advisory board) and Sam Clovis were the people the Senate (including Republicans) made criminal referrals about. Clovis? He's a climate-change denier who Trump nominated for USDA's top science post, before his involvement with George Papadopoulos in the Russia scandal made him withdraw. I guess he had a bit of residual shame. Maybe that's why he's not mixed up in fraudulent wall money.
