Trump keeps pushing Republicans. Testing them and their support. Nebraska is as Red State as it gets. That collapsing creaking sound on Trump's base is getting louder by the day.

(10,098 posts)Of course he will never, ever vote against the party of Trump. I really wish we had someone that could beat him. I'm old enough to remember when Nebraska had Democratic senators.

(6,172 posts)There is no right to riot, no right to destroy others property, and no right to throw rocks at police. But there is a fundamental a Constitutional right to protest, and Im against clearing out a peaceful protest for a photo op that treats the Word of God as a political prop, Sasse said. Every public servant in America should be lowering the temperature and that means saying two basic truths over and over: (1) police injustice like the evil murder of George Floyd is repugnant and merits peaceful protest aimed at change; (2) riots are abhorrent acts of violence that hurt the innocent. Say both things loudly and repeatedly, as Americans work to end the violence and injustice.
Just for the record, Sasse is up for re-election.
I guess he's decided that it won't hurt him to criticize Trump a little when Trump has so obviously misplayed the religion card.
