Trump Says Tech Giants Controlled by 'Radical Left,' Vows Action
Source: Bloomberg
President Donald Trump accused Facebook Inc, Twitter Inc and Alphabet Incs Google of being controlled by the Radical Left and said that his administration is working to remedy what he called an illegal situation.
In a tweet that also mentions the Facebook-owned Instagram, the U.S. president commented on a clip by conservative blogger Michelle Malkin lambasting the so-called deplatforming of conservative voices by technology companies. Trump didnt elaborate on potential measures targeting the tech giants.
Malkin in a recent post on her Twitter account said that she would not be taking the Gates vaccine, a term often employed online by anti-vaccine activists to refer to the many coronavirus vaccines in development. It refers to Microsoft co-founder and billionaire philanthropist Bill Gates.

(8,053 posts)trump was whining about it. He's just doing this to try to make it even more trump property, just as he did Fox and how he is now doing One American News Network...the even more insane rightwing conspiracy theory site.
This is how he owns those platforms. They're stupid enough to fall for it.

He's flailing wildly at this point; lashing out at any perceived slight, any sign of disloyalty.
Too bad he controls all the levers of power. Good thing he's too dumb to know how to use them.
Too bad Barr does.

Conservatives only like the free market when they have the advantage and want govt action when they're on the losing end.

(12,555 posts)Why havent they? I dont get the fascination the RW people have with talk radio. I've heard limbaugh et al for 20 years many days out of the week at one of my workplaces. HOURS of it. Its nothing more than reinforcing what they already believe. Remember how everyone on the right wanted Judge Napolitano to be on the damn SCOTUS back when trump started? But as soon as he started quoting actual LAW & pointing out where trump was wrong, he became a "liberal" and bad mouthed as a know-nothing. Its the same with the radio shows. They have to tow the line. If limbaugh and the rest were so powerful we never would have had Obama for TWO terms. because believe me, they tried their best!!

(12,555 posts)I know everyone complains about RW talk radio, but i cant agree with forcing a station owner to run programming that doesnt make money.
What i dont understand is WHY it doesnt make money. Progressive people can tune in their radios at work or home just like republicans can. But they dont. And there's probably more of them than republicans!!

(32,033 posts)While progressive people listen...do they buy as much based on advertising as much as conservatives do?
Also, it's much easier to package conservative ideas into simple, easy to listen radio. Liberal ideas are too nuanced for commercial formats.
Furthermore, many on the left prefer non broadcast outlets like social media, books, message boards, and on demand video/audio.

(12,555 posts)I know i've seen businesses who have gotten on the wrong side of trump or other RWers get massive support from democrats because of it. I dont know why they would support their own "my pillow" guy or whatever.
I know XM has a Progressive channel & has for years. Always listened when i had satellite.
Rachel should have had her own show too. Having to wrangle Winstead & Chuck D wasted her talents. Of course she's come out way on top now

(32,033 posts)Good luck getting Bank of America to advertise on a show criticizing the bank bailouts. Good luck getting Google to advertise on a show that books a guest that criticizes the tech companies' selling of data. Good luck getting McDonald's to advertise on a show that promotes "whole Earth diets" or whatever. My point was that the trade-off for progressive talk shows "pushing the envelope" is a more narrow range of potential sponsors.

Forcing them into giving to his campaign or else, plus he'll get Barr to trump up something on them. Wonder how much eavesdropping illegally he.'s doing.
