ABC News Suspends Correspondent David Wright Over Mysterious Project Veritas Video Footage
Source: The Daily Beast
ABC News has reportedly suspended one of its veteran journalists over unknown remarks that he made while being secretly recorded. The Washington Post reported that correspondent David Wright had been disciplined, but it remains unclear exactly what he said in the footage. The mysterious video was teased on social media Tuesday by the founder of conservative group Project Veritas, James OKeefe, who said it will expose ABC News agenda to mislead voters and push their own narratives. The Post reported that ABC News officials reviewed the footage before his suspension. Project Veritas was previously behind the release of a video that showed ABC News anchor Amy Robach slamming her own network for allegedly sitting on the Jeffrey Epstein story for three years. OKeefe said on Twitter that hed release the new footage on Wednesday morning.

(29,820 posts)photos and video of Adam Schiff with a drug using / dealing idiot donor about a month ago by some right wing nutjobs... Wasn't that supposed to cause Schiff to resign?
What happened to that?

(30,613 posts)I think ABC should be very careful before disciplining somebody based on evidence which is probably fabricated or misleading.

(1,255 posts)including most right wing media. But whatever. If ABC wants to use Wright's suspension as a sign to right wing media that ABC is not independent, than Wright could probably use the vacation time to his advantage. If I worked for ABC as a journalist I would be counting minutes to any vacation I had coming.

(22,279 posts)I watched the video and it's edited down to "I am a socialist" - nothing before or after (and no gaps to suggest it was a stand-alone statement).
ABC had better reverse their suspension IMMEDIATELY! WTF were they thinking???

(30,613 posts)Or O'Keefe might have edited out the word "not."
Or maybe, just maybe, it isn't illegal to be a Socialist, and ABC has no right to fire somebody for it, if true.

(146 posts)I watched this video. Other than being honestly critical of his employer, ABC, I dont see the problem. Its certainly not anti-Trump. Hes expressing his opinion on the state of news that is reported and the disservice to viewers/voters. And so hes socialist?
I do have to laugh, however, at the dramatic lead-in...like its a serious documentary or earth shattering news.

(9,426 posts)dressed in what HE considered a pimp outfit, to take down an Obama agency. It was laughable, he wore a big hat with feathers and a long coat with a fur collar. Ridiculous. He has been trying to get famous for several years, and screws it all up every time. He is a complete clown. Time for him to give up and get a REAL job.

(429 posts)He sounds like he's being honest on both sides, he's saying ABC wants to report the dramatic and if that might not tell the whole story they are fine with. Guess what? That's what the media has been doing for years. This swings both ways and all sides should be outraged, not by this video but by how pathetic jouralists are these days.
I was always taught "who, what, why, when, where" when I watch the local news at least half of the stories fail not on just one of these principles but multiple ones, it's really infurtiating to see happen. How can so many reporters be so bad?

(101,120 posts)James O'Keefe is a tool and a fraudster who has been caught multiple times being a fraudster. The fact that anyone takes him seriously is the bigger story here.
Oh and if you look up the dictionary definition of the word "tool", I'm pretty sure that you would see his picture there.
