Critics question motive and sobriety of White House letter ripping impeachment inquiry as illegitima

Source: AP via Marketwatch

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Constitution gives the House “the sole power of impeachment” — but it confers that authority without an instruction manual.

Now comes the battle over exactly what it means.

In vowing to halt all cooperation with House Democrats’ impeachment inquiry, the White House on Tuesday labeled the investigation “illegitimate” based on its own reading of the Constitution’s vague language.

In an eight-page letter, White House counsel Pat Cipollone pointed to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s failure to call for an official vote to proceed with the inquiry as grounds to claim the process a farce.

... snip ...

The White House document lacked much in the way of legal arguments, seemingly citing cable TV news appearances as often as case law. And legal experts cast doubt upon its effectiveness.

that means the President doesn't get to set the rules, proclaim its illegitimacy...etc.

Even if the House leadership has violated the rules that is still a matter internal to the House.

The House GOP caucus can complain of that, but AFAIK that is not the case and won't be.

More christofascist newspeak from the Trump WH.

he doesn't just care about himself. Look at all the CONservative judges tRump has appointed. EvanHELLicals believe tRump was sent by Dog, and they worship the most immoral man to ever become pResident because they believe a woman's right to choose will be overturned during his assholy administration.

So no, Donnie doesn't just do things for himself. He does stupid shit for other fascists so they'll give him wide latitude when he wants to do all the other things just for himself. He can break any law, wipe his ass with the Constitution, and his fascism loving followers will worship the orange maggot because he gets them what they want.

Yeah, after listening to the ways Trump has screwed up the world all day, I tend to get a little passionate about my posts. I have to vent, and sometimes DU is all there is. Even the dog is tired of listening to me.

my Mother figured it out, and later, so did I.

The Constitution gave the House the sole authority to figure out the "how" part of Impeachment themselves, and the Senate to figure out how to conduct the removal part with little instruction. The House needs to do their part and the hell with what the Senate thinks. The Senate needs to stay in their lane, and worry about how they are going to go about removing that Lying Asshole from office, that they somehow seem to feel they owe a debt of gratitude to.
