Kansas Rep. Sharice Davids, thrust into Pelosi and AOC fight, downplays controversy

Source: The Kansas City Star

WASHINGTON
Democratic Rep. Sharice Davids has carefully avoided engaging in the daily controversies in Congress during her first seven months in office, preferring instead to talk about the future of Highway 69, aviation regulations and funding for flood safety.

A freshman who flipped a suburban Kansas City seat with a double digit victory last fall, Davids succeeded in navigating around the conflicts on Capitol Hill until this past weekend, when she was thrust into the center of a social media fight between her party's progressive wing and Democratic leaders.

The internecine war, brewing for months, broke out more than a week ago when House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-California, made dismissive comments about Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York and other outspoken progressive freshmen, known on Capitol Hill as "The Squad," in an interview with The New York Times.

Great video of her at the link. She pretty much brushed off the nasty comments about her by Saikat Chakrabarti, AOC's Chief of Staff.

She's above all that, she just plugs away doing the job she was elected to do in a highly professional manner.

AOC should have dismissed him right away. It was highly inappropriate and reflects on her if she can't contain her people.

But if he keeps saying stupid stuff, there is no way that can keep being tolerated.

in Congress chose Nancy Pelosi as speaker. She doesn't have to let a small group tell her what to do.
I don't see a lot of difference between those who put children in cages and keep them hungry and those who want to hold them there until they get their way. Rep. Sharice Davids has the right attitude.

daily controversy stuff either. She flipped a seat. Her seat was held by Hastert at one time.

She just shows up and does her work. Her offices are open, too.

Nor Jahana Hayes
Nor Deb Haaland
Nor Veronica Escobar
Nor Xochitl Liana Torres
Nor Sylvia Garcia

all of whom are freshmen women of color. They all follow the Bill Belichick motto (I know people here don't like him) of "Do your job!"

She acts like she wants to be a serious member of congress rather than a reality show star.
