(14,966 posts)THE MEDIA REALLY, REALLY WANTS YOU TO WATCH THIS HORSE RACE!!!
Keep your eye on the ball, everyone. Acosta is a scum-bag, yes, who should not be Labor Secretary. But he is a symptom of a terrible disease, not the underlying problem. Don't get so distracted by the relief of a symptom, or the potential of relief (which is what the corporate/DC-based media is selling you) that you think you have made any headway whatsoever on fighting the disease. That would be a grave error.
You do realize that the GOP Senate will immediately confirm any P.O.S. that Trump nominates to replace Acosta, right? What does his resignation gain you then? Hmmmmm? The media is hollering "watch the birdie" at you. Don't get distracted.
The GOP knew ALL OF THIS about Acosta when Trump nominated him and they confirmed him in the Senate. IT WAS IN ALL THE NEWSPAPERS AT THE TIME. If you think you've won because they finally get embarrassed enough to get rid of him in favor of some nearly-indiscernibly-different GOP huckster replacement, then they have successfully distracted you.
NEVER lessen your fury directed at Trump and the GOP for Acosta/Epstein. NEVER. No matter what happens with his job status now.
