Russian Agent Maria Butina To Be Sentenced April 26

Source: NPR

Maria Butina, the Russian woman who pleaded guilty last year to working as a clandestine agent in the United States, will be sentenced on April 26, U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan said Thursday.

Butina, 30, sat silently in a green jump suit during the hearing. She faces a maximum of five years in prison but could receive zero to six months because of a plea deal.

She was arrested in July and has been detained ever since, with federal prosecutors arguing that she was a flight risk.

... snip ...

The judge's announcement on Thursday follows charges filed last month by the Justice Department against Paul Erickson, a Republican fundraiser who was romantically involved with Butina. Prosecutors allege that he defrauded investors in a South Dakota business scheme.

Is her sentencing a direct result of the Mueller Investigation? What about the NRA? Will there be an repercussions to the NRA?

What about Reince Priebus and Steve Bannon? Seems to me that they were in the thick of things during the presidential campaign and the early days in the WH. I can't believe they've come out unscathed.

after whatever sentence she's given is served. If it's minimal, she might even be given credit for time served and be deported immediately.

Republicans should release her, buy her a Bentley and make her the governor of some fricking Republican State. After all, she’s a hero in their eyes.

I'm think she'll get 20 Hail Marys, and turn around in a circle 3 times while rubbing her belly and the top of her head simultaneously. Then she goes home on probation.

10. In Manafort's case

the state of NY is going to put him away for a long time. And the charges that NY brought were done specifically so as not to overlap with the federal charges since NY has still been working on amending their "double jeopardy" law.

Another court also gave him a few years for several different felonies. And so on, and so forth.

Not sure why you're trying to argue about irrelevant things that don't have anything to do with "he got a little over 3 yrs for several felonies." ???

He also has an ostrich coat, but that's irrelevant, too.

Since Manafort got only 3 1/2 yrs for a slew of felonies,

and I'm just saying the Manafort thing has not gone away and that shouldn't necessarily be applied in this case either because as we now know, fresh indictments were handed down to him.

In this case, what they end up doing with Butina will probably depend on the judge and that would not suddenly rule out any state charges either. States usually defer to the feds first before proceeding with what they plan to do.

15. Okay, chill. I made a JOKE. What ARE you talking about???

It always makes me curious why people read things that are not there. I did NOT say that those felonies were ALL the ones he was charged with or sentenced for. I did NOT say anything about the multiple charges in different courts, did I? No.

I said he got only 3 1/2 years for a slew of felonies for which the recommendation was 10-20 yrs. And that is the truth. A fact. Undisputed. Can't be argued with. I'm clearly talking about the sentence that everyone was aghast over.

As I said, he also has an ostrich coat. He also had other charges in other courts, and may still have more. He also has a nice car. He also has some nice houses he may lose for restitution. He also has lost weight. But none of those things has any bearing whatsoever with anything I said.
