Sky New Zealand pulls Sky News Australia off air over Christchurch massacre coverage
Source: The Guardian
Sky New Zealand has pulled fellow broadcaster Sky News Australia off air until the channel stops broadcasting clips from the Christchurch mosque shooters Facebook live stream.
In a tweet posted on Saturday morning, Sky New Zealand, an independently-owned broadcaster, said it had decided to remove the Australian 24-hour news channel from its platform because of the distressing footage.
We stand in support of our fellow New Zealanders and have made the decision to remove Sky News Australia from our platform until we are confident that the distressing footage from yesterdays events will not be shared.
Despite a plea from New Zealand police, Rupert Murdochs Australian pay-TV channel was among the broadcasters that chose to screen Go Pro footage shot by a man who slaughtered 49 people at two mosques in Christchurch on Friday.
Police are aware there is extremely distressing footage relating to the incident in Christchurch circulating online, the police said in a statement. We would strongly urge that the link not be shared. We are working to have any footage removed.

I can't wait to see how they do this with guns. If not for our daughter, we'd have already moved. We're going to NZ next Jan to spend a few weeks with our friends and really explore the country. I will be working hard with the Democratic party to GOTV and hoping for the best from our legal system with holding the orange traitorous criminal liable, but if both of these fail us and he gets a 2nd term - Id be great to have another option other than Nazi Trumpland.

Full disclosure: maybe if I had the wealth and means to move myself I would... but I don't. Oh well someone's gotta stay and fight the Nazis

Back in the BushCheney admin I fought the notion of leaving, and now I am too old. Still, I would not have traded the Obama years for anything.

I may get dinged for this, but with all my being, I hope Murdoch suffers the same fate.
