Joe Walsh To Sandra Fluke: ‘Get A Job’ (VIDEO)
Source: TPM
Add freshman tea party Rep. Joe Walsh (R-IL) to the list of Republicans attacking Sandra Fluke after her appearance at the Democratic National Convention.
At a campaign stop Saturday in Addison, IL, Walsh, who faces a tough reelection battle, went on a self-described rant about Fluke, attacking her support for contraception coverage and telling the law student to get a job.

2) Why isn't this assclown in jail for refusing to pay back child support like anyone else would be?

(3,232 posts)Fluke wants her insurance to pay for contraception, if I understand correctly. Fluke pays for her insurance. So what's wrong with that? And speaking of jobs, you want me to pay for your salary, when you can't take care of your own kids?? Maybe someone should have provided you with some free contraception. hmmm?

(441 posts)Sandra Fluke asked the government to compel Georgetown University to not sequester contraceptive drugs from the list of what is covered by their student medical insurance policy, in spite of Georgetown Universitys religious bias against artificial contraception.
Treating Ms. Fluke as his fellow Republicans so often treat others, Joe is merely misrepresenting her reasonable request as an unreasonable request, and then chiding her for that misrepresented unreasonableness.
Im hoping the demographic for Lincolns some of the people who can be fooled "all of the time" is much smaller than Republican candidates appear to be counting upon.

It is sad we had to put up with this pudd for two years,
but now we have the chance to get a real democrat
in place. Tammy will win, Tammy will rock.

(29,067 posts)Bean lost to Walsh by only 295 votes....What really lost the vote for
her was a guy named Bill Scheur who ran as a third party candidate
to the left of Bean.
My understanding is that he had a personal beef with Bean,
but whatever that was worth, his brilliant strategy allowed this Tea Party Idiot to win.
P.S. I was no big fan of Bean's, by the way, but she was light years
better than this prick.

(307 posts)I was projecting ...
I should have said that "I would
not vote for her based on her voting with the republicans
on damn near everything(Most social issues excluded.)",
and that it was the first time in 42 years I left a box unchecked
for a democrat.
I hope we agree that Tammy has the potential to be light years
better than both of them?
whathehell
(29,067 posts)you will agree that Bean would have been FAR better than Tea bagger Joe Walsh
because Bill Scheur didn't have a snowballs's chance in hell of being elected and THAT is why we
got the asshole JW.

(6,999 posts)I'd tell Walsh to get his ass out of my face. "I'm trying to eat here!"
I got the chance to loudly boo him twice last year. He was at a rock show to benefit the Wounded Warriors Project. The MC announced that he would be speaking between bands, and I immediately booed. There were not a lot of people there, so my lone boo filled the small venue. When he came on, I loudly booed again.
This was before news of his deadbeatiness hit the news. So I am feeling more than vindicated since.

(16,984 posts)...speaks volumes to me about the other party and what motivates them. From dirty trickster Roger Stone and his tweet expressing a wish that Ms. Fluke had been taken for a ride by the late Senator Kennedy to Joe Walsh's phony concern for the poor (and complete misrepresentation of the issues, including the Affordable Care Act) to of course Limbaugh's multi-day tirade, misogyny is alive and well and deeply ingrained in today's 'can Party.

He paints her honorable service to women as something that a person should be ashamed of. I can almost see the spittle flying out of his mouth as he says feminist activist. And he claims she is not looking out for her fellow citizens at the same time she is working to end human trafficking, say what?
Sandra Fluke is far from the average citizen that the left loves to portray her as. In her career she has headed the Georgetown Law Students for Reproductive Justice group as well as worked for several groups dealing with battered women and human trafficking. Fluke is not a typical citizen looking out for her fellow citizens at all. She is a feminist activist

Note: Walsh told his ex-wife he didn't have the money because ...
... because he was out of work." (Chicago Sun Times)
In July 2011, the Chicago Sun-Times reported that Walsh's ex-wife, Laura, was suing him for $117,437 for past due child support dating from 2005 for three of the children.[14] Walsh allegedly told his ex-wife that he did not have the money because he was out of work.[14][61] Walsh's attorney said that Walsh did not owe "anywhere near that amount," and that he had had no more problems paying child support than "any other average guy".[61] Walsh and his ex-wife were reportedly trying to work out a settlement of the disputed past due amount as of late July 2011.[14] Walsh's financial problems inspired the proposal of a bill which would forbid people owing more than $10,000 in back child support from running for office in Illinois.[62] On April 20, 2012, a judge dismissed the child-support dispute. In a joint statement Walsh and his ex-wife Laura stated, "Having resolved these issues together and cleared up these mistakes in private, we now agree that Joe is not and was not a 'deadbeat dad' and does not owe child support."[63]
In August 2011, the Chicago Tribune reported that Walsh lost his driving privileges from mid-April to mid-July 2011 because he let his insurance lapse. In response, Walsh criticized the Tribune for "wast[ing] time and ink scrutinizing [his] driving record over the last 22 years rather than Washington's unsustainable spending".[19]

I mean, they kept asking am I gay, that I need to get a job, that I was never in the military, etc adnauseum. What is the Republican base then? This congress critter sounds like a yahoo poster.

(16,984 posts)Oh, the "get a job" thing is a biggie. It's the right-wing straw man argument marshaled against anything -- health care coverage, the safety net, etc.
http://yourlogicalfallacyis.com/strawman
Note that the right not only vilifies Sandra Fluke and twists her words but sneers at Sister Simone Campbell's recounting of the people she's met and the challenges they are facing -- e.g., the young boys who were sole caregivers for their seriously ill mother.
