State delegates call on Montgomery County police, prosecutor to investigate Kavanaugh allegations
Source: Baltimore Sun
Eleven state delegates from Montgomery County are calling on local police and prosecutors to investigate allegations that U.S. Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh committed one or more sexual assaults while a high school student at Georgetown Prep in the 1980s.
In a letter addressed Montgomery County Police Chief Tom Manger, State's Attorney John McCarthy and lawyers Debra Katz and Michael Avenatti, who represent women accusing Kavanaugh of crimes, the lawmakers asked local authorities not to wait for an alleged victim to make a complaint to them before starting an investigation.
....
(Maryland Governor Larry) Hogan said Tuesday that the Senate should slow down Kavanaughs nomination process until it conducts a full and fair hearing.
Its very disturbing. It gives me great pause. There are credible charges and big concerns. They need to be heard, he said after an event in Montgomery County. They ought to take whatever time it takes to make sure these accusers are heard and he has a chance to respond to them.

If an investigation of the allegations against Kavanaugh were underway by Montgomery County Police, it would increase the pressure on the GOP to pause their confirmation process.

(25,111 posts)GOPers are lying (what else is new) and submitting false documents and false witnesses and or fake perpetrators. The Republican party will do anything to keep power.

(10,385 posts)some of them, beyond Trump are involved and
if they can get a nominee on the court quickly, they can overturn double jeopardy in the Gamble v USA case which will protect them with Trump pardon from state crimes as well as federal.
For some of them, it is a stay out of jail card.
It also seals GOP control of the court for the next few decades. As the shifting demographics push whites out of control, the court can continue to thwart a lot of the legislation. If they wait much longer, and the midterms come along, they could miss their chance.
Although I think Mueller has a plan.

(28,193 posts)Supposed Kavanaugh's nomination is confirmed. Then, this investigation goes forward and results in a trial where Kavanaugh is found guilty? Could his attorneys appeal to the SCOTUS?
Weird thought, no?
Even possible? 😲
And even then, GodsOwnParty wouldn't impeach him!
Gotta GOTV.

(13,465 posts)let's hope it won't get to that point and this guy is forced to resign, then the Maryland local police/state AG (who is a Dem) will nail his arse.

(69 posts)I even voted for him last time and probably will again. The only GOP member who will ever get my vote. He's really like a democrat in his actions, but then he needs to be in this bright blue state.

I would vote for any Democrat over him.
