Romney Touts Romneycare: I’m The Guy That Got ‘Health Care For All The Women And Men In My State’
Source: Think Progress
Just two weeks after a Romney spokesperson faced a barrage of conservative criticism for highlighting the success of the governors Massachusetts health care law, Romney himself bragged that the measure has expanded access to womens health care services, including contraception. During an interview with Fox News on Sunday, Romney said he was very proud of Romneycare which includes an individual mandate for providing coverage to all women and men:
ROMNEY: With regards to womens health care, look, Im the guy that was about to get health care for all of the women and men in my state. Theyre talking about it on the federal level, we actually did something. [...]
CHRIS WALLACE (HOST): So youre saying, look at Romneycare?
ROMNEY: Well, absolutely. I am very proud of what we did, and the fact that we helped women and men and children in our state
And then with regard to contraceptives, of course Republicans, myself in particular, recognize that women have a right to use contraceptives. There is absolutely no validity whatsoever to the Obama effort to try and bring that up.
Watch it:

(3,655 posts)Romney had no answer when Wallace pressed him about the fact that his plan would make Medicare insolvent faster. We'll drive the costs down. They showed the Romney's at home and claimed that Mitt does the grocery shopping and the kids did household chores. Not a servant in sight.

For all the Obama-haters who can't stop talking about how ObamaCare is 'socialism' -- what are they going to say to this?

(6,960 posts)Yup.
Etch-a-Sketching in full mode prior to the convention.
Any 'concessions' on these controversies will be swallowed-up by convention coverage.
When these issues, like the Swiss bank account, are asked again, he can say that he has already addressed those topics and doesn't have to say anymore.
And the corporate news media will go along with him.
I don't think Willard ever 'regrets' anything.

(480 posts)He's all over the place. He's just making it up as he goes along. We all thought he would run to the middle as soon as he nailed down the nomination and instead he's been doing everything he could to suck up to his rightfully skeptical base. When a surrogate brought this up two weeks ago Ann Coulter was calling for an insurrection on Hannity's show. Now Mitt himself is bragging on his universal health care system, on Fox News for God sake, moments before the convention.
And that's on top of the GOP leadership saying 'screw the platform, we don't mean any of that, that's just more duping of the dumb ass base.'
If his base turns on him now... what will he have left? He'll be a laughing stock. Bounce points: The press, eager to convince the public that it could criticize the right, if they weren't just so damn above reproach, might, seeing the inevitable, begin to pile on in a feeding frenzy. I'm telling you, it could happen. These guys could go down in flames.
Double bounce points: Gun play at the convention!
